This Left wants to act sympathetic after Donald Trump’s near brush with death. But everyone can see right through their facade.
And this leading Democrat congressman was caught red-handed after attempting to put Trump’s life in danger.
In a controversial move, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the former leader of then-Speaker Pelosi’s (D-CA) now-defunct January 6 Select Committee, introduced legislation this past April aimed at former President Donald Trump. This proposed bill would remove Trump’s Secret Service protection upon his conviction.
The urgency of this legislation was highlighted by a recent assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania. As shots rang out, Secret Service agents swiftly shielded the former president. The incident resulted in the deaths of the shooter and a bystander.
“Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentence of a protectee—even a former President,” Thompson explained in his official statement upon introducing the bill.
“It is regrettable that it has come to this, but this previously unthought-of scenario could become our reality. Therefore, it is necessary for us to be prepared and update the law,” he added.
“So the American people can be assured that protective status does not translate into special treatment—and that those who are sentenced to prison will indeed serve the time required of them.”

As the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, Thompson is responsible for ensuring the safety of the American people.
His proposed legislation, however, has sparked intense debate.
Byron York, chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner, criticized the bill in a post on X, suggesting the “obvious subtext” was that taking away Trump’s Secret Service protection would make it “easier for someone to k*ll Trump.”
York said, “Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson ran the January 6 committee, which mixed elements of show trial and reality series. Focused solely on Trump, of course. Now, Thompson wants to take away Trump’s Secret Service protection if Trump is convicted on any of the 88 felony charges leveled against him by elected Democratic prosecutors and a Biden Justice Department appointee.”
“Obvious subtext here is that removing USSS would make it easier for someone to kill Trump, which is arguably the goal of Thompson’s bill, H.R. 8081: The DISGRACED Former Protectees Act.”
Trump has consistently accused the January 6 Committee, led by Thompson, of being a sham and a politically motivated effort. Transcripts revealed earlier this year showed that the committee withheld and even destroyed evidence that could have vindicated Trump.
Despite the introduction of Thompson’s bill, Trump was recently convicted in a Manhattan courtroom, though his sentencing has been postponed.
The conviction itself might be overturned pending a Supreme Court decision that could invalidate some of the evidence used in his trial.
The Left’s Destructive Rhetoric
The radical Left’s rhetoric involving former President Trump and conservatives has reached a boiling point.
They’ve constantly been calling Trump and his supporters “Hitler” and a “threat to the nation” for years now. It was only a matter of time until someone took action to their disgusting rhetoric.
But now some of those same Leftists, like Rep. Thompson are coming out with words of compassion and sympathy towards Donald Trump after the failed assassination attempt.
There is no room in American democracy for political violence. I am grateful for law enforcement’s fast response to this incident.

I am glad the former President is safe, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.
Unfortunately for them, Americans remember their previous dangerous rhetoric and in Thompson’s case, his calls for wanting to remove Donald Trump’s Secret Service protection.
