The media landscape has taken a notable turn in recent weeks, with Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the focal point of extensive and overwhelmingly positive coverage.

Following her rapid ascendancy to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s 2024 candidate, Harris has received an unprecedented amount of favorable press, making this a historic moment in modern media coverage.

At the same time, and in a development that many anticipated, former President Donald Trump has been the subject of a relentless media assault.

The negative press surrounding the Republican nominee is remarkable, likely setting a record for unfavorable coverage in recent political history.

This stark contrast in coverage was revealed in a report from the Media Research Center, a conservative watchdog.

Their analysis highlighted that 84% of media coverage about Harris has been positive, while 89% of the coverage concerning Trump has been negative across major networks like CBS, NBC, and ABC.

“Not only has Harris received 66% more airtime than former President Donald Trump, but the spin of Harris’s coverage has been more positive (84%) than any other major party nominee, even as Trump’s coverage has been nearly entirely hostile (89% negative),” the report revealed.

Furthermore, the analysis showed that the combined Democratic ticket of Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (R-MN), has received 82% positive press. In stark contrast, the Trump-Vance ticket has faced 90% negative coverage. These findings were shared by Rich Noyes, the report’s author.

The media’s favorable treatment of Harris has continued into the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where her coverage has only intensified. Despite this surge in positive press, polls and public opinion suggest that many Americans see through the media’s bias. A Rasmussen Reports poll found that 60% of likely voters believe the media actively tries to assist the candidate they favor, and 57% of those polled identified Harris as the media’s preferred candidate.

This trend of favorable coverage for Democratic candidates is not new; for over six decades, Democratic presidential hopefuls have enjoyed positive media treatment. However, Noyes’ report also noted that the three largest networks have avoided scrutinizing Harris’s political stances, downplayed controversies, and exaggerated the Democratic ticket’s momentum, even though polling data shows the race remains closely contested.

“As the Democratic National Convention begins, the Big Three evening newscasts have delivered Kamala Harris the most positive start to a general election campaign of any presidential nominee in recent memory. Not only is she getting the most coverage, she’s also getting by far the most positive press,” Noyes stated.

More Americans Are Waking Up To The Media’s Leftist Bias

The central question, as Noyes pointed out, is whether the public will be swayed by this lopsided media coverage or if they will see it as further evidence of a partisan press shaping the narrative in favor of one political side.

Most people with common sense realize that the media has an obvious bias towards the Left. Even some on the Left have identified this.
