The mainstream media is up to their usual tricks. They’re discrediting the Trump administration at every corner.
And CBS News was caught red-handed lying about this Trump official on live TV.
CBS News Faces Backlash for Inaccurate Reporting on Tulsi Gabbard During Inauguration Day Broadcast
CBS News has come under scrutiny for disseminating multiple inaccuracies about Director of National Intelligence (DNI) nominee Tulsi Gabbard during a live broadcast on Inauguration Day. These claims have sparked debate as Gabbard works to garner support ahead of her Senate confirmation vote.
One of the contentious issues arose from a graphic aired during the broadcast stating, “Tulsi made secret visit to Syria.” According to Gabbard’s spokesperson, this claim misrepresented the nature of her trip.
Gabbard’s spokeswoman, Alexa Henning, clarified, “The area was crawling with al-Qaeda and ISIS and she could have easily been kidnapped or k*lled if these terrorist groups knew she was coming.” Henning explained that the trip was confidential for safety reasons, not “secret.”
Similar precautions have been taken by other officials, such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who had planned an undisclosed trip to Afghanistan in 2019 but canceled after accusing then-President Trump of publicly revealing the trip’s details.
Another assertion made by CBS News involved Gabbard allegedly questioning a finding that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons on his own people.
While the broadcast suggested Gabbard outright dismissed these claims, Henning stated otherwise.
She explained that Gabbard had raised questions about intelligence assessments of two chemical attacks, citing conflicting analyses from MIT professor and military technology expert Ted Postol.
The broadcast also reported a statement allegedly made by Sen. Shelley Moore-Capito (R-WV), claiming Gabbard had been unaware she was traveling to Syria and thought she was heading to Lebanon.
Henning refuted this account, calling it inaccurate. “That’s not what Tulsi told the senator, and it’s not what the senator told the network. Their dishonesty is almost as bad as the snide, arrogant tone that their lies are packaged in,” Henning stated. CBS News further inaccurately asserted that Gabbard had visited Syria more than just one time.
The network also repeated a false allegation made by lobbyist Mouaz Moustafa, who claimed Gabbard met with two young Syrian girls injured in bombings and asked them if they believed Assad was responsible.
According to Henning, there is no evidence to support this account, aside from Moustafa’s statements.
Moustafa, who had previously advocated for a U.S.-backed regime change in Syria following the Arab Spring, has been criticized for his credibility.
Henning also pointed out Moustafa’s admission of spreading falsehoods about Gabbard. “This lie has been spread by Mouaz Moustafa, who himself admitted that he lied about Tulsi’s translations, and who is essentially a public relations frontman for al-Qaeda/al-Nusra and their Islamist offshoot HTS,” she said.
Despite these claims, Gabbard has openly described Assad as a “brutal dictator” and acknowledged that she does believe he used chemical weapons on his people.
These mischaracterizations by CBS News have reignited concerns over the accuracy and fairness of media reporting, particularly in the wake of Donald Trump’s arrival to the White House as president.
This is further proof that Leftists in the media are doing all they can to undermine a Trump presidency that the majority of Americans voted for.
