The mainstream media likes to play fast and loose with the truth. But this crosses the line.
Now Donald Trump threatened BBC with $1 billion lawsuit if they don’t do as he says.
BBC Caught Red-Handed Editing Out “Peacefully and Patriotically” Plea
Trump attorney Alejandro Brito’s letter, obtained by Fox News Digital, demands the network retract the October 28 Panorama special “Trump: A Second Chance” by 5 p.m. EST Friday, November 14, or face a Florida defamation juggernaut.
“In the Panorama documentary… the BBC intentionally sought to completely mislead its viewers by splicing together three separate parts of President Trump’s speech,” Brito wrote.
The aired version showed Trump saying: “We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol, and I’ll be there with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
What the BBC deliberately cut: Trump’s actual words moments later — “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
Two BBC Bosses Already Gone, More Heads Set to Roll
The scandal has already claimed BBC Director-General Tim Davie and News chief Deborah Turness, both of whom resigned in disgrace last week after a whistleblower dossier exposed the doctored edit alongside other partisan hits.
When Turness quit, she admitted the Trump controversy “has reached a stage where it is causing damage to the BBC… As the CEO of BBC News and Current Affairs, the buck stops with me.”
Trump celebrated the purge on Truth Social: “The TOP people in the BBC, including TIM DAVIE, the BOSS, are all quitting/FIRED, because they were caught ‘doctoring’ my very good (PERFECT!) speech of January 6th. Thank you to The Telegraph for exposing these Corrupt ‘Journalists.’”
Foreign Election Meddling: BBC “Tried to Step on the Scales”
Trump’s letter warns the BBC “lacks any viable defense” and acted with “actual malice,” while ordering the network to preserve all documents ahead of litigation.
“Due to their salacious nature, the fabricated statements that were aired by the BBC have been widely disseminated… which have reached tens of millions of people worldwide. Consequently, the BBC has caused President Trump to suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm,” Brito wrote.
A Trump legal spokesman told Fox News Digital: “The BBC defamed President Trump by intentionally and deceitfully editing its documentary in order to try and interfere in the Presidential Election. President Trump will continue to hold accountable those who traffic in lies, deception, and fake news.”
Press secretary Karoline Leavitt branded the BBC “100% fake news that should no longer be worth the time on the television screens of the great people of the United Kingdom.”
A shaken BBC spokesperson could only manage: “We will review the letter and respond directly in due course.”
With two executives already out the door and a billion-dollar lawsuit looming, the British broadcaster’s election-interference gamble has blown up spectacularly.
