The Democrat Party keeps taking blows. They can’t seem to land back on their feet after the 2024 election.
And a veteran Democrat in Congress has called it quits in a stunning development.
Another career leftist is finally shuffling off the stage. Democratic Rep. Nydia Velázquez, the first Puerto Rican woman elected to Congress, just announced she’s done after 32 years of soaking up taxpayer dollars in Washington.
In her goodbye note, the New York progressive couldn’t resist one last cheap shot at President Trump, claiming his administration spent years “working to undermine civil rights and our democracy.”
“For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of a lifetime serving the people of New York City in the United States Congress. After much reflection, I have decided that this will be my last term in Congress,” Velázquez stated.
“This was not an easy decision, but I believe that the time is right for me to move on and for a new generation of leaders to step forward.”
Serving the people of New York City for over three decades has been the honor of my life.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, nothing I have accomplished would have been possible without your support. pic.twitter.com/Y9GZFSfcqo

Velázquez has been a loyal foot soldier in the Congressional Progressive Caucus since she first slithered into office in 1993.
Even her fellow traveler Jerry Nadler chimed in with the predictable praise, calling her “La Luchadora” and a “progressive trailblazer.”
It has been a great honor to work with my colleague, friend, and fellow New Yorker, @NydiaVelazquez.
The first Puerto Rican woman elected to Congress, Nydia “La Luchadora” has been a progressive trailblazer and fighter for her district, the poor, and Puerto Rico. I will forever… https://t.co/nWaKBYYD6X

Nadler himself is also bailing in 2026, proving once again that rats know when the ship is taking on water.
The timing of her exit is delicious. After voters handed Democrats a historic beating, the old guard suddenly discovers it’s “time for new leaders.” They only believe in term limits when the polling looks like a horror movie.
The fact that she’s leaving alongside Nadler shows how panicked the socialist wing really is.
Their ideas have been rejected at the ballot box, and now they’re running for the exits before the people finish the job.
New Yorkers deserve representatives who put America first, not career activists who spent decades importing third-world problems while lecturing the rest of Americans about “justice.”
Velázquez’s retirement is another nail in the coffin of the radical left’s grip on Congress.
One by one, these relics are being shown the door, either by voters or by their own survival instincts.
The message is clear: the era of far-left domination is over. Real Americans are taking their country back, district by district, seat by seat.
