Democrats are full of it. Even CNN knows that.
And CNN called out Democrats in this shocking moment.
In a fiery segment on CNN’s “The Source,” political commentator Shermichael Singleton ripped into the Democratic Party’s decision to back Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner. Singleton didn’t hold back, declaring that this move has laid bare the left’s rank hypocrisy for all to see.
For years, Democrats positioned themselves as the guardians of decency and ethics.
They insisted their fierce opposition to President Trump stemmed from some noble stand for justice and American values.
Yet Singleton pointed out how quickly those lofty claims crumble when real power hangs in the balance.
The situation in Maine perfectly captures this double standard. Platner has positioned himself as a champion for women, drawing sharp contrasts with incumbent Senator Susan Collins.
He blasts Collins for her vote to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
All of this would ring hollow enough on its own, but recent serious allegations against Platner himself make the whole spectacle grotesque.
Singleton captured the absurdity perfectly: “I find that a bit ironic. For a long time now Democrats have long argued that what fueled their passions against Trump was a sense of, righteous indignation. They were standing up for justice.”
“They were upholding morality that they said Trump was an affront to. And now what we all realize is that that was all a facade. You have this guy who said he’s going to make a speech, to make a comment or draw a contrast against himself and Susan Collins. He stands up for women.”
“She does not, because she voted for Brett Kavanaugh. Yeah. We just had not more than a week ago, very serious allegations against this very same guy who’s now the defender of women. So to me, it seems like maybe a defender of women for my Democratic friends when it’s convenient for them.”
This selective outrage reveals a party driven purely by electoral math, not principles. Democrats suddenly discover flexibility in their moral code when a Senate seat in a critical state sits within reach. Platner’s baggage gets swept aside because defeating Collins could help lock down their majority.
The left spent over a decade lecturing everyday Americans about character, ethics, and unacceptable behavior from Republicans. Now those sermons look like nothing more than political theater designed to fool voters and consolidate control. When the opportunity arises to flip a seat, past standards evaporate overnight.
Singleton drove this point home with precision: “But now that there’s a political electoral opportunity to maintain their majority in the Senate, and Graham Platner could oust Susan Collins you know what? It doesn’t necessarily matter the 10 plus years of arguments we’ve made about morals and ethics against Trump and Republicans empower, Trump, because we can win a seat.”
“It’s very Machiavellian in many ways. And to me, any argument that Democrats have framed against Trump, against Republicans is now null and void.”
“They have revealed themselves to be nothing but hypocrites, nothing but liars. And I think as we get into the general election, you’re going to see the case made by Susan Collins, made by the nrsc, that.”
This kind of cynical maneuvering should alarm every working American who values straight talk and genuine integrity. The same voices who condemned Trump relentlessly now embrace a candidate facing fresh accusations simply because he carries their party label. Their precious standards apply only to political enemies.
