Trump’s plans and policy ideas are constantly filling Democrats with rage. But this latest one sent them over the top.
As Donald Trump announces a new proposal that has the Left seething with anger.
If there’s one thing conservatives hate, it’s Big Government.
The radical Left however, wants to expand the government as much as possible.
So when former President Donald Trump announces a new plan that will shrink the federal government and give power to the states, Democrats naturally lose their minds.
Trump Announces Plan To Shut Down Department Of Education
In a recent interview with Elon Musk on X Spaces, former President Donald Trump made it clear that if reelected, he intends to dismantle the Department of Education and return control of education to individual states.
Trump, the 45th president, highlighted the troubling decline in U.S. education rankings compared to other developed nations, despite the country’s significant financial investment. The United States, he noted, spends “more per pupil than any other country in the world,” yet continues to lag behind in educational outcomes.
“I want to close the Department of Education — move education back to the states…” Trump stated during the discussion with Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla and the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter).
Trump argued that by shifting control to the states, the education system would become more cost-effective while fostering healthy competition among the states. He acknowledged that not all states might excel initially, but this competitive pressure would drive improvement across the board.
“But if you moved education back to the 50 [states], you’ll have some that won’t do well…But they’ll actually be forced to do better because it’ll be a pretty bad situation,” Trump explained. “But if you think about it, you’ll have some of these states — I’ll bet you’d have 30, 35 states [where education] will be much better. And you know what? It’ll cost less than half what it is in Washington. And these people don’t care about the students in these far away states.”
Trump concluded by emphasizing, “It would be unbelievable.”
Musk appeared to agree with Trump’s perspective, noting that such a policy could make it easier for Americans to relocate to states that offer better opportunities. “Yeah. I think you’re making a good point in that if…each individual state has to compete against other states, then people will naturally move to states where it’s better,” Musk responded.
“That’s right,” Trump said in response.
This isn’t the first time Trump has called for the reduction or elimination of the Department of Education. During his 2016 campaign, he suggested that the department “can be largely eliminated.” His former Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, also supported the idea of abolishing the department.
In response to Trump’s recent remarks, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) praised the former president’s stance on X and renewed his push for HR899, a bill he introduced to terminate the Department of Education. Massie has consistently reintroduced this bill in each Congress, ensuring it always carries the designation HR 899.
“I have reintroduced this bill each Congress, and I have taken care that it is always designated as HR 899. Many people like that my bill is only one sentence long. No beating around the bush. Perhaps my colleagues can take time to read it!” Massie commented.
Massie further criticized the creation of the Department of Education, describing it as a failed “re-election ploy” by former President Jimmy Carter. He called for the empowerment of teachers and parents by passing HR 899 to end the department.
The Left’s Response
It’s no surprise that members of the radical Left were appalled at this proposal by Donald Trump.
In an effort to fire up their voter base, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign page on X, @KamalaHQ, posted a clip on X of Trump announcing his intentions to close the Department of Education.

“I’m already voting for him, you don’t need to sell it further,” one X user quipped in response to the post.
The Democrat’s angered response to Trump wanting to dismantled the Department of Education should be a key indicator that it’s a solid plan that will only benefit the country.
