Trump has to be furious. He can’t afford for the GOP to turn on him.
And Donald Trump gets betrayed by this Republican governor.
In a predictable move from the swamp creatures of yesteryear, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie popped up on ABC’s This Week this past Sunday to lob more grenades at President Donald Trump.
Christie, who’s never shied away from playing the role of the disgruntled insider, decided to lecture Americans about what really matters in leadership. But let’s be real – this is the same guy whose own political career fizzled out like a dud firework. Instead of focusing on the wins Trump delivered for everyday folks, Christie fixated on some nebulous idea of “character” as if that’s the magic bullet for fixing Washington.
Christie kicked off his tirade by claiming that Trump’s supposed flaws are overshadowing the real fights that matter to conservatives.
He painted a picture of Republicans whispering behind closed doors, admitting they overlook Trump’s personality because they love his policies. But according to Christie, that’s all changing now.
“I think it’s a bigger issue. You know, I talked to friends of mine in my party who will say to me all the time look, he’s not a good guy. He’s kind of crazy, but I like the issues. Here’s the thing. What they’re discovering now is character is the most important issue. And what the posting of that video shows, this is absolute lack of character,” Christie said, referencing some vague video incident that’s been blown out of proportion by the liberal media.
What Christie fails to grasp is that Trump’s unfiltered style is exactly what resonated with millions of Americans tired of polished politicians who promise the world and deliver nothing.
The president’s willingness to call out the nonsense in D.C. isn’t a flaw – it’s a feature.
Christie doubled down, arguing that without this so-called character, no real progress happens. He tied it all to distractions pulling focus from key battles like the economy and border security.
“And now what we’re seeing is when you don’t have character, you can’t get the issues done either, because all these acts of lack of character by Donald Trump are so distracting from issues like the economy, which the people care about. He’s now underwater on the economy,” Christie said.
“His lack of character allows him to do the things that ICE is doing that is so outraging the country and now he’s 20 points underwater on immigration, which has been a winning issue for Republicans for almost two decades. So for all my friends out there who say, yeah, no, I know the character is awful, but I care about the issues.”
“He you not only now supporting someone with no character, but his lack of character leads to us not being able to accomplish the issues that we care about either.”
Here’s the truth Christie ignores: Trump’s tough stance on immigration through ICE isn’t “outraging the country” – it’s protecting it. For decades, Republicans talked a big game on borders but did squat.
Trump has actually built walls, enforced laws, and put America first. If polls show dips, blame the fake news machine churning out anti-Trump propaganda 24/7, not the president’s resolve.
Christie acts like character is some pristine virtue only found in the halls of elite clubs he frequents. But real character shows up in action – like standing up to China on trade, bringing jobs back home, and telling the globalists where to shove their endless wars. Trump’s not crazy; he’s courageous in a town full of cowards.
In the end, this Sunday sermon from Christie is just more noise from a has-been trying to stay relevant.
Trump’s movement is about putting America first, not playing nice with the establishment.
