There’s been much debate about the new Trump administration. But now it’s all coming to a head.
Because Donald Trump has received groundbreaking news about his incoming admin just weeks before his inauguration.
The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has formally endorsed former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for the role of Director of National Intelligence (DNI), marking a significant vote of confidence in President-elect Donald Trump’s choice.
In a letter addressed to incoming Senate Intelligence Committee chair Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK) on Thursday, the influential homeland security union expressed its “complete and total support” for Gabbard, as reported by The Daily Wire.
“On behalf of the National Border Patrol Council, I write to express our complete and total support of President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to be the Director of National Intelligence, former U.S. Representative and Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard,” the letter states.
The NBPC praised Gabbard’s extensive military service, emphasizing how it equips her to address the critical threats the DNI must confront.
“We have no doubt that Lt. Col. Gabbard is the right person to be the DNI and will work tirelessly to keep our nation safe, just as she has done for the past two decades,” the letter adds.
The union highlighted the importance of intelligence leadership in addressing security concerns posed by the country’s vulnerable southern border.
“The U.S. Intelligence Community, led by the DNI, plays an integral role in our border security by monitoring the potential for these threats to enter our country,” the letter reads.
Specific threats identified in the endorsement include transnational criminal organizations, foreign terrorist groups, and hostile state actors who seek to exploit weaknesses at the border.
“These entities and individuals will always attempt to exploit our unsecure [sic] borders to further their activities that threaten the American people,” the NBPC wrote.
Gabbard’s nomination has also received praise beyond the NBPC. Bernard Hudson, a former CIA counterterrorism chief, offered a glowing endorsement of Trump’s pick in an editorial published by National Review.
“She has the right experience, temperament, and professional integrity to restore faith in America’s intelligence community,” Hudson said in the editorial.
Gabbard brings a unique blend of military and political experience to the role.
A former four-term Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, Gabbard recently registered as a Republican and became an active supporter of Trump during the latter stages of the 2024 election.
She endorsed him publicly at an October rally in Greensboro, NC, after years of distancing herself from her former party.
Gabbard’s nomination represents a pivotal moment for the incoming administration. President-elect Trump praised her as a fearless leader who will champion constitutional rights and prioritize national security.
“I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength,” Trump stated.
This endorsement adds to the momentum surrounding Gabbard as she prepares to take on one of the nation’s most critical intelligence roles, signaling bipartisan recognition of her leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to the country’s safety.
