It’s rare that those on the Left will give Trump his laurels. But they can’t help but do so this time.
Now even Democrats are applauding Donald Trump after he scored a major win.
Poll Reveals Strong American Backing for Trump’s Deportation Push
A fresh JL Partners survey, shared exclusively with The Post on October 28, 2025, underscores widespread public endorsement of President Trump’s aggressive deportation agenda, with clear majorities favoring the removal of illegal immigrants—especially those with criminal records.
Even as media narratives and Democratic rhetoric paint a different picture, the data highlights a nation aligning behind Trump’s border security vision, prioritizing safety and rule of law in his second term.
The poll of 1,004 registered voters, conducted October 14-15 with a ±3.1% margin of error, shows Americans rejecting the open-borders status quo that plagued the prior administration. Trump’s focus on mass deportations and fortified borders emerges as a cornerstone of his popularity, outpacing his ratings on thornier issues like the economy and foreign affairs.
Overwhelming Consensus on Criminal Deportations
Support surges to near-universal levels when it comes to deporting illegal immigrants who’ve committed additional crimes, a policy Trump has championed to shield communities from violence and chaos.
A resounding 69% of respondents somewhat or strongly back this measure, dwarfing the 13% who oppose it, with 19% undecided.
Strikingly, the sentiment crosses party lines: 58% of Democrats favor booting criminal illegal immigrants, against just 20% who don’t. This bipartisan nod validates Trump’s targeted enforcement as a commonsense fix, not partisan overreach.
“Opinion pieces by liberal writers, the public statements of Democrats, the views opined on social media — they could not be further from where the median American is on immigration,” James Johnson, co-founder of J.L. Partners, told The Post.
Overall, registered voters tilt 50% to 27% in favor of deporting all illegal immigrants—a nearly 2-to-1 edge—while half see Trump’s approach as spot-on (32%) or needing more muscle (18%), versus 28% who deem it excessive.
“This poll definitively shows that the American public are on the side of President Trump on migration policy and deportations,” Johnson added. “Quite apart from having gone ‘too far’, a majority of the public think the administration’s policy is about right or even hasn’t gone far enough.”
Republicans (76%) and independents (49%) lead the charge for full deportations, though Democrats split with 29% in favor versus 45% opposed—still a notable bloc echoing the poll’s broader pro-enforcement vibe.
Backing for Third-Country Removals and ICE Protection
Trump’s innovative use of third-country deportations—sending individuals to safe nations beyond their origins when home countries balk—earns a 37% to 30% approval, per the survey. This tactic, greenlit by the Supreme Court over the summer, streamlines operations amid resistance from uncooperative regimes, ensuring swift justice without bureaucratic snags.
Facing fierce opposition from left-wing activists, Trump’s ICE deployments to urban hotspots have drawn threats and bounties from cartels. Yet voters stand firm: 56% insist violence against ICE officers is unjustifiable, against 25% who see it as acceptable and 19% unsure.
Trump’s immigration stance nets a modest -1.4 approval dip in RealClearPolitics aggregates—better than his marks on inflation, the economy, or the Russia-Ukraine conflict—cementing it as a political powerhouse. As his administration gears up for broader action, this poll signals Americans are ready for a secure, sovereign border under bold leadership.
