President Biden looks to be putting an end to his rivalry with Trump. And that’s left everyone stunned.
Because Joe Biden just helped Donald Trump in a massive way and Leftists are furious.
The Biden administration has reached a settlement that could lead to the full reopening of the Adelanto ICE Processing Center, the largest private migrant detention facility in the United States.
Critics argue the move plays directly into President-elect Trump’s plans for mass deportations, with one immigration lawyer describing it as “rolling the red carpet’’ for Trump’s policies.
Located about 80 miles northeast of Los Angeles, the Adelanto facility can house up to 1,940 detainees but currently holds only three, according to ICE data.
This low occupancy stems from a 2020 court order that restricted detainee intake due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
However, under the settlement with the Democratic White House, the facility is expected to resume full operations—pending a judge’s final approval—a decision that has sparked outrage among migrant-rights advocates.
“Well F–k, what can I say, Biden Admin and DOJ are rolling the red carpet for Trump’s deportation machine,” said immigration lawyer Nicolette Glazer on X. Speaking to the New York Post, Glazer labeled the settlement “bad news.”
Hardeep Sull, a director at the American Immigration Lawyers Association, expressed frustration, posting on X: “Now that is a way to mess with Christmas Eve Eve! Biden’s legacy against people!”
The reopening of Adelanto is seen by some as a key step in facilitating Trump’s proposed mass deportation agenda.
Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, recently told the New York Post that the administration is preparing to expand detention capacity, specifically citing the COVID-related restrictions on Adelanto as a hurdle to be addressed.
The controversy comes amid broader debates over U.S. immigration policy.
In a 2023 letter to ICE, Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.), whose district includes Adelanto, criticized the facility’s near-empty status while remaining “fully funded” by taxpayer dollars.
Obernolte pointed out that despite the Biden administration’s declaration that the COVID-19 emergency ended in May, the detention center continues to operate under restrictions.
“The federal government’s reliance on ‘catch and release’ has forced states, counties, and cities throughout the country to declare a state of emergency due to the financial burden that has been placed on our local communities,” Obernolte wrote.
“It’s time for ICE and the DOJ to rectify this situation and get the Adelanto ICE Processing Center back into regular use.”
Plans to close the facility by December were halted when ICE launched a 60-day evaluation of its operations, followed by an additional 120-day review to account for “potential relief from ongoing litigation that prevents full use of the facility,” as reported by Fox News.
The settlement’s implications remain uncertain, but many Leftists view the decision as a troubling reversal of the Biden administration’s earlier promises to reform immigration enforcement.
As the legal process moves forward, the decision to reopen Adelanto raises questions about Joe Biden’s long-term immigration strategy from radical Leftists who were hoping he wouldn’t give Donald Trump an easy path forward to implementing his strict immigration policies.
