The White House press secretary is on the attack. She isn’t backing down from going after the president-elect.
And Karine Jean-Pierre has teamed up with Biden to launch an all out assault on Donald Trump.
In a recent exchange, FOX Business correspondent Edward Lawrence posed a pointed question to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre regarding President Biden’s rhetoric towards President-elect Trump.
Lawrence asked if Biden had apologized for his previous remarks during a recent Oval Office meeting, given Biden’s earlier characterization of Trump as “a threat to democracy.”
During his campaign, Biden frequently emphasized this sentiment, asserting that Trump posed a serious risk to democratic principles. He further claimed that “our democracy is at stake” if Trump were to return to power.
Biden’s words during the election season were often intense, with the call to lock up Trump politically illustrating the depth of his concerns.
However, since the election concluded, Biden’s approach seemed to have shifted. He welcomed Trump to the White House with a warm smile and a cooperative attitude, signaling a potentially softer tone in light of the results. Lawrence sought clarity on this shift, asking Jean-Pierre, “Was there an apology today?” for Biden’s campaign rhetoric.
Jean-Pierre, seemingly caught off guard, replied with, “I’m sorry? Apology from whom?” After Lawrence clarified that he was referring to an apology “to President-Elect Trump for some of the words that were used on the campaign trail,” Jean-Pierre appeared momentarily flustered.
She responded by reaffirming Biden’s commitment to honesty with the American people, emphasizing that his previous remarks and attacks on Trump still hold merit.
“What he says still stands,” Jean-Pierre insisted. She emphasized that these sentiments were not unique to Biden, noting that former White House officials, including John Kelly, had voiced similar concerns.
Jean-Pierre also emphasized Biden’s respect for democratic institutions, stating that he was “leading by example” by respecting the election outcome and prioritizing the will of the American people.

Despite the conciliatory gestures from Biden, Jean-Pierre doubled down on the administration’s pre-election attacks of Trump.
“His own people said this. So, I want to be really, really clear about that and not forget the facts,” she added, asserting that these views were grounded in shared concerns among those close to the former president.
This interaction isn’t the first time Jean-Pierre has been questioned about Biden’s shift in tone toward Trump.
Last week, Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich similarly pressed Jean-Pierre on Biden’s pre- and post-election rhetoric.
In response, Jean-Pierre emphasized the president’s commitment to a peaceful transfer of power, though she grew frustrated with Heinrich’s persistence, accusing her of “twisting” words and eventually ending the press briefing.
As the Biden administration navigates this post-election landscape, questions remain about how campaign rhetoric translates into governing actions.
While Biden’s shift in tone may signal a new approach, his press team appears firm in upholding the administration’s attacks on Donald Trump, leaving some questions about reconciliation between the two leaders unanswered.
