On Monday, he gave a well-deserved shoutout to Washington, D.C.’s Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser for teaming up with his administration to deploy National Guard troops and smash crime rates in the nation’s capital. In a post on Truth Social, Trump laid it out plain and simple. “Wow! Mayor Muriel Bowser of D.C. has become very popular because she worked with me and my great people in bringing CRIME down to virtually NOTHING in D.C.,” he declared.
Trump didn’t hold back in calling out the failures of other liberal leaders who are letting their cities spiral into lawlessness. “Her statements and actions were positive, instead of others like [Illinois Gov. JB] Pritzker, [Maryland Gov.] Wes Moore, [California Gov. Gavin] Newscum [Newsom], and the 5% approval rated Mayor of Chicago, who spend all of their time trying to justify violent Crime, instead of working with us to completely ELIMINATE it, which we have done in Washington, D.C., NOW A CRIME FREE ZONE,” he said.
The president pointed out that Bowser’s smart decision to partner with federal forces starting August 11 has already boosted her standing among voters. He claimed her popularity jumped a whopping 25 percentage points, though specifics on the polling weren’t detailed.
Mayor Bowser herself acknowledged the massive impact of this collaboration during a press conference last Wednesday. “We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city,” she said.
She went on to highlight the stunning results: an 87% drop in carjackings and a 45% decrease in all violent crime. These aren’t just numbers—they’re victories for families who can now walk the streets without fear.
“We know that when carjackings go down, when use of gun goes down, when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer,” Bowser stated.
Back in May, a Washington Post-George Mason University Schar School survey pegged Bowser’s job approval at 53%. With the recent crime-fighting success, it’s no wonder Trump sees her numbers climbing. He even noted his willingness to keep things amicable. “I’d love to do it if she’d like. I get along with Kathy.
