Donald Trump is unleashing fury on Virginia’s Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Abigail Spanberger, slamming her as spineless for refusing to dump her party’s attorney general candidate, Jay Jones, after his disgusting texts about m*rdering a Republican leader came to light.
Trump didn’t hold back, demanding that Jones bail out of the race right away, painting him as a dangerous extremist who’s poisoning the Democratic ticket in the Old Dominion.
The bombshell dropped when those twisted 2022 messages from Jones resurfaced, revealing his dark fantasies about assassinating then-Republican state House Speaker Todd Gilbert, complete with graphic details that have Republicans outraged and demanding accountability.
Democrats, true to form, have circled the wagons around Jones, with Spanberger dodging any real action despite the uproar, showing just how out of touch the left is with everyday Americans who reject this kind of hate.
“It has just come out that the Radical Left Lunatic, Jay Jones, who is running against Jason Miyares, the GREAT Attorney General in Virginia, made SICK and DEMENTED jokes,” Trump fired off on Truth Social Sunday, pulling no punches in his takedown.
He continued, ripping into the so-called jokes: “If they were jokes at all, which were not funny, and that he wrote down and sent around to people, concerning the m*rdering of a Republican Legislator, his wife, and their children.”
Those chilling texts went to Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner back in August 2022, laying bare Jones’ unhinged mindset that has no place in politics or anywhere else.
“Three people, two bullets,” one message read, sent bright and early at 8 a.m. on Aug. 8. “Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot.”
Jones doubled down in the exchange: “Gilbert gets two bullets to the head,” according to the texts that first hit the headlines via National Review and later gathered by the New York Post.
He even twisted it further with a sick spoiler: “Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time.”
Things got even darker when Jones jumped on a call with Coyner, spinning yarns about Gilbert’s wife witnessing her kids’ deaths, and branding the innocent children as “little fascists” – pure venom from a supposed public servant.
At first, Jones stonewalled any remorse, attacking incumbent AG Jason Miyares for supposedly slinging mud, before flipping to claim he’d apologized to Gilbert and his wife for the “grave mistake.”
Spanberger, who’s eyeing the governor’s mansion, gave a half-hearted slap on the wrist to Jones’ rants but wouldn’t go the distance and tell him to quit, exposing her as just another weak link in the Democratic chain.
“Abigail Spanberger, who is running for Governor, is weak and ineffective, and refuses to acknowledge what this Lunatic has done,” Trump thundered, noting that even some Democrats are whispering it’s time for Jones to pack it in. “Even Democrats are saying it is ‘RESIGNATION FROM CAMPAIGN’ TERRITORY. Democrat Jay Jones should drop out of the Race, IMMEDIATELY.”
Bigwig Democrats in places like Virginia Beach are still propping up Jones through the mess, proving the party’s elite would rather protect their own than stand up for decency and law-abiding folks.
Spanberger tried to play it cool in her statement, admitting she’d chewed him out but falling short of the bold move real leaders make when faced with this trash. “After learning of these comments earlier today, I spoke frankly with Jay about my disgust with what he had said and texted,” she said, trying to sound tough.
“I made clear to Jay that he must fully take responsibility for his words. What I have also made clear is that as a candidate — and the next Governor of our Commonwealth, I will always condemn violent language in our politics.”
Yet, despite the scandal, Spanberger’s holding an 8.3-point edge over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in the RealClearPolitics polling average, a lead that patriots hope will crumble as voters wake up to the Democrats’ hypocrisy.
