Republicans gifted with once in a lifetime chance to end this radical Leftist organization for good

The GOP has to act quick if they want to get this done. There’s no time to waste.

And Republicans were gifted with a once in a lifetime chance to end this radical Leftist organization for good.

On Thursday, a wave of pro-life advocates swept onto Capitol Hill, their voices rising in unison to press lawmakers to seize a golden opportunity to cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Hundreds of activists, hailing from every corner of the country, converged on Washington, D.C., determined to make their case.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a leading voice in the movement, reported that more than 300 advocates from 39 states fanned out across congressional offices. Their mission? To convince lawmakers to use the budget reconciliation process to halt the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood.

The last time such a chance came within reach was back in 2017, when a razor-thin Senate vote kept the funding intact.

The stakes are staggering. According to Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report, the organization pocketed roughly $699 million in public funds during the 2022-2023 fiscal year, accounting for about a third of its total revenue. That same report disclosed that nearly 400,000 abortions were performed under its watch—a figure that fuels the fire of pro-life outrage.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America, spoke passionately to The Daily Wire about the urgency of the moment. She called the upcoming budget talks the most promising shot Republicans have had in eight years to pull the plug on Planned Parenthood’s federal lifeline.

“This is the biggest pot of Planned Parenthood and big abortion funding that the federal government is involved in,” she said.

“We provide $2 million a day for this so that they can spend $70 million last election cycle trying to defeat our candidates, unsuccessfully, thank goodness. But most importantly they are using it to build the institution of Planned Parenthood.”

The memory of 2017 still stings. That year, a reconciliation bill aimed at stripping Planned Parenthood’s funding and dismantling Obamacare collapsed when Senator John McCain cast a last-minute “no” vote, leaving Republicans agonizingly short of victory. But Dannenfelser sees a different landscape today—a “perfect storm,” she called it.

With Republicans now holding the White House and both chambers of Congress, bolstered by the efficiency-driven efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency, the stars seem aligned. She also praised House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as the strongest ally the pro-life cause has ever had in that role.

“We’ve got a good shot,” Dannenfelser told The Daily Wire, emphasizing that the lobby day was designed to keep lawmakers’ eyes on the prize amid the whirlwind of budget negotiations. At stake in the reconciliation process is $500 million in Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood—a sum she believes could cripple the organization if cut off.

“You take that amount of money away for one or two years, and I really do think for an already hobbled organization, it could just bring them down,” she predicted, envisioning a historic triumph for the pro-life movement.

The energy was palpable at a rally held that Thursday, where GOP lawmakers joined activists to amplify the call. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) didn’t mince words, branding Planned Parenthood a “m*rder for profit organization” that “should never receive another penny of taxpayer dollars.”

She vowed to make defunding it her personal crusade, arguing that its non-profit status should be stripped away. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) echoed her fury, decrying Planned Parenthood as a “baby k*lling machine as they abort over a thousand babies every single day.”

For years, Republicans have pledged to end Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer support—a promise ignited in 2015 by undercover videos showing officials casually discussing the sale of aborted fetal tissue.

Despite the uproar, the organization has continued to rake in hundreds of millions annually. This week’s push follows a letter sent Wednesday by 150 pro-life groups nationwide, imploring Congress to act decisively.

As activists roamed the halls of power, their message was clear: this isn’t just about money—it’s about a movement poised to reshape the future and to save the unborn.

Whether they succeed may hinge on a handful of votes, but for now, the fight is on, and the momentum feels electric.
