The Supreme Court is on lockdown after a terrifying threat

SCOTUS

The highest court in the land has been an important check on governmental overreach. But now some are sick of their decisions.

And the Supreme Court is on lockdown after a terrifying threat.

It’s no secret that Congress and many presidents in the past have tried to expand their power beyond any form of reason.

They don’t care about the Constitution, Americans, or even doing the right thing.

It’s all about power, money, and prestige.

And one Congresswoman is making that abundantly clear.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., once again shows her radical tendencies by calling for a “radical” overhaul of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Her demands include expanding the number of justices on the bench, a move commonly known as court-packing.

It’s an idea that undermines the integrity of the nation’s highest court, all to cater to a partisan agenda.

“We need to radically reform the broken Supreme Court,” Omar proclaimed, as she pushes for adding more justices and imposing term limits, which would destabilize the very foundation of this respected institution.

“SCOTUS reform is on the ballot in November,” she insists, making it clear that her agenda is not about justice but about controlling outcomes through packing the court.

For nearly 150 years, the Supreme Court has functioned with nine justices.

But now, Omar and her fellow Democrats want to change the rules just because the court isn’t issuing rulings to their liking.

Her 2020 call to “Expand the court” right after Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation only highlights her frustration with the fact that three of the nine justices were nominated by then-President Donald Trump—qualified legal minds like Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Barrett herself.

Omar’s support for the Judiciary Act of 2023, a proposal that would add four more justices, is nothing short of a partisan power grab.

Thankfully, this dangerous bill hasn’t moved forward.

The Constitution wisely grants Supreme Court justices life terms to preserve their independence, stating they “shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour.”

Unlike politicians like Omar who are driven by political whims, justices are meant to serve as impartial defenders of the Constitution, not as pawns in a political game.
