Platner went so far as to declare that Trump was the worst person ever to seek office.
This kind of rhetoric reveals the deep panic gripping the Democratic Party as Trump continues to dominate the political landscape and connect with working people across the country.
Host Jen Psaki, clearly enjoying the pile-on, pressed Platner about Trump’s sharp response.
She noted how Trump had labeled him a “thug” and stated that Platner was “Worse than any human being that’s ever run for office probably.”
Platner fired back without hesitation. “Well, coming from certainly the worst person to have ever run for office, I take it as an immense compliment.”

Platner doubled down in his response. “Yeah, it’s, it’s at the end of the day, it just comes down to the fact that Donald Trump knows that I’m going to go to the United States Senate to try to hold him and all of his corrupt cronies accountable. That’s the entire point of this.”
“I mean, we are building something up here in Maine that’s going to allow us to retake the Senate for Democrats, but also retake the Senate with Democrats who really want to get in a fight.”

He wants to join the Washington machine dedicated to targeting Trump and his supporters at every turn.
