The Biden administration says they want to see the Russia-Ukraine war end. But there’s been no progress at all.
And now President Biden has made an insane decision about sending troops to the Russia-Ukraine war.
As part of America’s assistance to NATO during the Russia-Ukraine war, up to 3,000 American reserve soldiers will be deployed to Europe.
On Thursday, President Joe Biden issued an executive order stating, “I hereby determine that it is necessary to augment the active Armed Forces of the United States for the effective conduct of Operation Atlantic Resolve in and around the area of responsibility of the United States European Command.”
No date was given for the initial deployment of the reserve force.
As of last year, there were approximately 100,000 American troops stationed in Europe, an increase of 20,000 over the previous year. This information comes courtesy of Military.com.
A Pentagon transcript from Thursday quotes Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Sims, director of operations for the Joint Staff, as saying, “Since 2014, U.S. European Command has provided combat-credible forces for rotational deployment to Europe… to demonstrate good commitment to NATO.”
“This reaffirms the unwavering support and commitment to the defense of NATO’s eastern flank in the wake of Russia’s illegal, unprovoked war on Ukraine,” he said.
The general stated that the units that will be deployed to Europe have yet to be decided upon.
“It will really depend on what’s required from the commander,” Sims said.
According to Politico, the directive reclassifies as a contingency operation the United States’ campaign in Europe that began following Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014.
This status expedites the delivery of supplies to the U.S. forces stationed in Europe, opens the door for the mobilization of reservists who receive the same perks and pay as active-duty soldiers, and permits their deployment.
Allies pledged at this week’s NATO meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, to have 300,000 troops ready for deployment no more than 30 days after being called up.
On Thursday, Sims stated, “there are cluster munitions in Ukraine at this time,” referring to the bombs the United States has supplied to the Ukrainian government.
The general elaborated on what kind of forces the United States would and would not send there, adding, “the conditions right now for the employment of the F-16s are probably not — they’re probably not ideal.”
“As the future changes, that certainly will dictate how that is employed.”
U.S. agreement to deploy Abrams tanks, according to Sims, “will certainly make a difference on the battlefield.”
Again, the White House has reiterated their intention to see the Russian-Ukraine war come to and end. They’ve also been claiming for months now that the end is “near,” arguing that Russia can’t carry on much longer.
But from the vantage point of the American people, the war has only been getting worse and worse. Billions of dollars paid for by the taxpayer continue to be spent on this war as well.
If anything, it seems like this could turn into a lengthy war that carries on for years to come. The American economy simply can’t sustain being the financiers of this war.
