This mayor has been involved in quite a bit of controversy over the weeks. But they never expected it to involve the police.
And a Democrat mayor’s house was raided by law enforcement in a stunning turn of events.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D) came forward to report that she had a police SWAT team appear at her house on Christmas day.
The Boston Police Department was alerted by a man who falsely claimed he had shot his wife at Wu’s home address, and tied her up next to another person.
That’s when the police responded to Wu’s home where they found out it was obviously a false alarm.
After the incident, Wu explained that she and her family have dealt with swatting calls in the past.
“For better or worse, my family are a bit used to it by now, and we have a good system with the department,” Wu said of the swatting attempt to WBUR, a Boston news organization.
This attempt comes in the wake of her “electeds of color” Christmas party that she threw a few weeks ago which caused plenty of controversy.
The party was not open to city council members who are white, but invitations were sent to them anyway by accident.
“We’ve had individual conversations with everyone, so people understand that it was truly just an honest mistake that went out in typing the email field,” Mayor Wu said.
Frank Baker (D) a white Boston city councilman, found the “electeds of color” party to be divisive.
“I don’t really get offended too easily. To offend me, you’re going to have to do much more than not invite me to a party,” Baker said to the Boston Herald.
“I find it unfortunate that with the temperature the way it is, that we would further that division.”
Wu wasn’t the only politician to be swatted on Christmas day.
Two Republican members of the U.S. House had the unfortunate pleasure of welcoming in police forces as well.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was swatted for the eighth time on Monday and expressed that the police should not “have to deal with this.”
Rep. Brandon Williams (R-NY) was also hit with a swatting call, but police were able to contact him before they arrived to his home.
I was just swatted.
This is like the 8th time.
On Christmas with my family here.
My local police are the GREATEST and shouldn’t have to deal with this.
I appreciate them so much and my family and I are in joyous spirits celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ!

Regardless of political affiliation, no politician should have the police charge upon their home because of these false alarms.
Thankfully no one was hurt from any of these swat calls.
