Joe Biden’s presidency has widely been considered a failure. There’s hardly anything he’s been able to accomplish.
And a new bombshell report exposes this disturbing act Biden committed while president.
President Joe Biden’s time away from the White House has become a major talking point, with claims that the 81-year-old has spent nearly as much time on vacation as he has in office.
According to data compiled by the Republican National Committee (RNC), Biden has logged 532 vacation days in less than four years, roughly 40% of the 1,326 days he’s been president.
For perspective, it would take the average American, who receives about 11 vacation days per year, close to five decades to reach that number of days off. This stark comparison has fueled criticisms of the president’s time management during a period of economic and global instability.
Mark Paoletta, who served as general counsel of the White House budget office under former President Donald Trump, was especially scathing in his assessment.
“The image of Biden fast asleep and lying flat on his back in his chair at the beach while America and the world is on fire will define the Biden presidency,” Paoletta said. He further argued that with inflation running high, crime at the border rising, and global crises mounting, “all Biden wants to do is go on vacation and check out — for more than 530 days.”
This critique was bolstered by the RNC, which pointed out that last Saturday marked Biden’s “16th straight day on vacation” while he relaxed in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Speculation has arisen that Biden’s reduced public appearances might stem from growing frustrations within his own party, particularly after key figures like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly pressured him not to seek re-election.
A report by The New York Post last year also highlighted Biden’s frequent time away, noting that the president had spent some or all of 382 out of his first 957 days in office on personal overnight trips away from the White House. If this pace continues, Biden could surpass previous presidents in vacation time. By comparison, Donald Trump, often criticized for his own frequent trips to Mar-a-Lago, spent 26% of his presidency away from Washington.
Presidents Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama took significantly fewer breaks, vacationing just 11% of their presidencies, while Jimmy Carter only took 79 days off in total during his single term — about 5% of his time in office.
Despite this, the White House defends Biden’s work ethic. Presidential aides maintain that Biden, like his predecessors, works remotely during vacations and remains in touch with key staff. He was recently spotted having lunch with former Pennsylvania Senator Ted Kaufman at Fieldstone Golf Club in Delaware, adding to the argument that the president stays engaged even when away.
However, critics remain unconvinced. Representative Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) sarcastically suggested that the country might benefit from Biden taking even more time off. “We probably would have been better off if he did even less and went on vacation more,” she remarked, pointing to what she described as damaging policies Biden has implemented.
“Sadly, he repealed President Trump’s border policies, lifted sanctions on Iran that enriched them, and implemented anti-energy policies that drove up the cost of gas, food, and utility bills. If he just left things alone, things would be better.”
In response to these mounting critiques, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates offered a sharp rebuttal. “It’s not a surprise that the same geniuses who attack President Biden for petting hero dogs and liking ice cream can’t count, but he has taken fewer vacation days than the modern average for presidents and works hard every day, wherever he is.”
As Biden enters the latter part of his term, the debate over his time away from Washington is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
While some insist that he’s checked out of the presidency, the White House continues to emphasize that, regardless of location, the president remains hard at work tackling the nation’s most pressing challenges.
Yet, many Americans don’t buy the White House’s claim that Biden is still working diligently while on vacation.
Rising inflation, high gas prices, an overall poor economy, and a disaster at the southern border, all point to evidence that Joe Biden really isn’t working as hard as he should to better this country.
