Trump is preparing to step back into office once more. This has his haters foaming at the mouth.
But this CNN host instantly regretted attacking a Trump ally when she got smacked with reality live on air.
The talk from Donald Trump about acquiring Greenland in a purchase from Denmark has the Left up in arms. They are (once again, who could have predicted it) going to worst-case scenario and assuming that Donald Trump is going to commit horrible atrocities just to get his way. They are freaking out and running with the narrative that Donald Trump is about to stage a war effort just to gain control of Greenland, even though everyone with an ounce of prudence knows that Trump is not about to start World War III over Greenland.
Donald Trump bringing up potentially wise moves for the United States is supposed to be a good thing. That’s what America’s leaders used to do. Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana purchase during his time as U.S. President, and he is regarded as one of the best President the United States has ever had. Today, though, the Left and the political establishment is losing their minds that someone like Donald Trump would suggest the United States not rest on its laurels. For example, take this exchange between a CNN host and a Trump-allied Republican appearing on the network for an interview.
Republican Rep. Brandon Gill Clashes with CNN’s Brianna Keilar Over Greenland Acquisition
On Wednesday, Republican Texas Representative Brandon Gill engaged in a tense exchange with CNN’s Brianna Keilar, discussing the possibility of using military force to secure Greenland for the United States. This conversation followed President-elect Donald Trump’s expressed interest in purchasing Greenland from Denmark—a territory of strategic value due to its natural resources and proximity to global power dynamics.
During a press conference at Mar-a-Lago earlier in the week, Trump had not ruled out the use of military force in securing Greenland. Keilar pressed Gill on whether he supported the idea of Americans potentially sacrificing their lives for the U.S. to acquire the land, referencing both Greenland and the Panama Canal, another area of Trump’s interest.
Keilar, who has a military background herself, began the exchange by asking, “You were born on a military base, you know you were a military kid … do you support Americans fighting, which always means potentially dying, for the U.S. to acquire Greenland or the Panama Canal?”
In response, Gill deflected from directly addressing the military action question and instead criticized Democrats, accusing them of making the world a less secure place under President Joe Biden’s leadership. He said, “It’s really funny that you bring that up, I’m gonna leave the methodology to President Trump and follow his lead here, but Democrats have made the world a much less safer place over the past four years.”
Gill further elaborated, “We’ve had over a half-a-million people die in the war in Ukraine that never would have happened if President Trump was in the White House. It’s amazing to me, that all of a sudden you’re concerned about people dying in wars when a weak foreign policy under President Joe Biden is the reason that the entire world has erupted in chaos.” His comments were an apparent reference to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and Trump’s stance on foreign policy during his presidency.
Keilar, visibly frustrated, pushed back, explaining that her concern about military personnel losing their lives was not new. She insisted on a direct answer from the congressman, saying, “It’s not sudden,” emphasizing her long-standing concern for U.S. military involvement in conflicts.
Gill maintained that President Trump would make decisions regarding Greenland and other territories based on the options available to him at the time. “Trump is leaving options on the table,” Gill stated, adding that the president-elect would act on those options once in office.
In addition to Greenland, Trump has also spoken about the U.S. potentially regaining control of the Panama Canal, a vital waterway through which about 40% of U.S. container ships pass annually. He has argued that the U.S. needs to reclaim the canal for “economic security,” citing China’s influence in the region and the claim that Panama overcharges U.S. vessels. During the press conference, Trump also expressed concerns about Russian and Chinese naval activity near Greenland, emphasizing that the island’s resources, including oil and natural gas, make it a crucial piece of territory for U.S. national security.
Trump’s rhetoric, which suggested an interest in expanding U.S. territories, has also included controversial statements regarding Canada. He recently proposed that the U.S. and Canada merge, a suggestion that followed the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The proposal sparked significant backlash among Canadian officials, who deemed the suggestion offensive.
At the Mar-a-Lago press conference, Trump was also asked by a reporter if he could assure that no military or economic coercion would be used to gain control of Greenland or the Panama Canal. In response, Trump admitted, “I cannot guarantee that those methods will not be used.”
