As Democrats show their blatant hypocrisy with this asinine strategy.

Democrats Shift Stance on Elon Musk During Clash with Trump

Some Democrats are warming to Elon Musk, the former head of the Department of Government Efficiency, as he publicly challenges President Donald Trump over the controversial “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”

This sweeping legislation, currently navigating Congress, aims to fund Trump’s agenda but has sparked fierce debate. Musk’s vocal opposition to the bill has aligned him with unexpected allies, including fiscal conservatives and even some Democrats, despite months of criticism from the party labeling him a “fascist” or “dictator” for his aggressive cuts to federal spending.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) took to X on Thursday, highlighting Musk’s critique of the “big, beautiful bill” and drawing a contrast with Trump’s approach. “If Biden had a big supporter criticize him, Trump would have hugged him the next day,” Khanna posted, referencing Trump’s embrace of Robert Kennedy Jr. after Democrats snubbed him. “We can be the party of sanctimonious lectures, or the party of FDR that knows how to win & build a progressive majority.”

In an interview with Politico on Wednesday, Khanna suggested Democrats should engage Musk, emphasizing shared values. “A commitment to science funding, a commitment to clean technology, a commitment to seeing international students like him,” he said, framing Musk as a potential ally despite his polarizing actions.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) also expressed openness to Musk’s perspective, telling Politico, “I’m a believer in redemption, and he is telling the truth about the legislation.” Torres acknowledged the damage Musk has caused, noting that many Democrats view his aggressive reduction of the federal workforce as “an unforgivable sin.” Yet, Musk’s stance on the bill has earned him some goodwill.

Jon Favreau, former speechwriter for President Barack Obama, echoed this sentiment on X, stating, “Couldn’t agree with Elon more: k*ll the bill,” in response to Musk’s call for lawmakers to reject the legislation.

Musk’s feud with Trump intensified this week over the bill, which critics argue balloons the national debt. On Tuesday, Musk posted on X, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.” His stance has found support among the House Freedom Caucus, known for its conservative fiscal policies, as well as Senate Republicans like Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who have also criticized the bill.

This shift comes after months of Democratic backlash against Musk. Many party members and federal employees condemned him as an unelected billionaire influencing White House policy.

His actions on inauguration day, described by dozens of media outlets as a “N*zi-style salute” to Trump supporters, drew particularly sharp rebukes. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) responded in January, saying, “If you’re cool and want to defend the ‘Sieg Heils’ and the N*zi salutes … whatever you want to do, that’s on you. I’m on the opposite side of that. I’m not with the N*zis.”

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) tweeted, “I never imagined we would see the day when what appears to be a Heil Hitler salute would be made behind the Presidential seal. This abhorrent gesture has no place in our society and belongs in the darkest chapters of human history.”

Other Democrats were equally scathing. Former Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) called Musk “incompetent,” a “thief,” and a “N*zi” in March, while Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) dubbed him a “N*zi nepo baby who breaks everything he touches” in February, as Musk announced federal cuts through DOGE. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) labeled him a “dictator” at an anti-DOGE rally.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” has also drawn fire from fiscal conservatives, who warn it could raise the debt ceiling by trillions. Sen. Rand Paul, appearing on CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday, said, “I want the tax cuts to be permanent. But at the same time, I don’t want to raise the debt ceiling $5 trillion. The GOP will own the debt once they vote for this.” Trump, however, dismissed such criticism, accusing Paul of possibly aligning with “Radical Left Democrats” and warning of a 68% tax hike if the bill fails.

Musk, who stepped down from DOGE in May after his 130-day tenure, escalated his attacks on the bill Wednesday, urging lawmakers to “k*ll the bill.” Trump responded Thursday during an Oval Office meeting with Germany’s chancellor, expressing disappointment in Musk.

“I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here,” Trump said. “All of a sudden, he had a problem. And he only developed the problem when he found out that we’re going to have to cut the EV mandate.”

The public spat has strained their once-friendly relationship. Trump posted Thursday, “Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!” Musk fired back, “Such an obvious lie. So sad.”

As Musk’s criticisms resonate with both fiscal conservatives and a surprising number of Democrats, the debate over the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” highlights a shifting political landscape, where unlikely alliances are forming in the face of contentious legislation.
