President Trump is adamant about keeping American’s safe. It’s something the Biden White House didn’t care as much about.
And the Trump admin has rooted out a massive terrorist threat according to a horrifying report.
Trump Administration Revokes Thousands of Student Visas Amid Immigration Crackdown
The U.S. State Department has canceled over 6,000 student visas, pointing to issues like overstaying authorized periods and legal violations, including support for terrorism, according to details shared with Fox News Digital. This action is a cornerstone of the Trump administration’s aggressive push to strengthen immigration policies and prioritize national security through stringent visa oversight.
The administration has rolled out a series of initiatives targeting students at American colleges and universities. Notably, individuals involved in pro-Palestinian protests have come under sharper scrutiny.
Back in May, Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that the visa statuses of these students were being closely reviewed, signaling a proactive stance on enforcement.
According to the State Department, the bulk of the 6,000 visa revocations stemmed from overstays or encounters with the law, ranging from assault and DUIs to burglary and terrorism support.
A senior official told Fox News Digital, “Every single student visa revoked under the Trump Administration has happened because the individual has either broken the law or expressed support for terrorism while in the United States.” Of those, roughly 4,000 were tied to legal infractions like assault or driving under the influence.
Among the revoked visas, about 800 were linked to assault-related arrests or charges. Another 200 to 300 individuals lost their visas for actions such as raising funds for Hamas, a group the U.S. designates as a terrorist organization, per the official.
In total, the State Department reported that around 40,000 visas have been pulled in 2025—a significant jump from the 16,000 revoked during the same period under Biden’s presidency.
The official emphasized that visa enforcement isn’t new, stating, “Even if the previous administration was doing less, they were still revoking visas. It’s not something that just started on January 20 … So this has happened for years.”
Rubio echoed this during a May 20 Senate appropriations subcommittee hearing on foreign affairs, estimating that “thousands” of student visas had already been rescinded since January.
“I don’t know the latest count, but we probably have more to do,” he told lawmakers, stressing the administration’s intent to target those “disrupting our higher education facilities.”
Democrats, however, have sharply criticized the policy, arguing it tramples on due process. During the May 20 hearing, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., told Rubio, “I do think it’s a fundamental attack on freedom, because due process is the guardian of the gate to keep a government from taking away people’s life or liberty, and liberty is what happens when you take away a visa without due process.”
Student visas allow foreign nationals to study in the U.S. for a set time, unlike green cards, which permit non-citizens already in the country to stay.
The visa crackdown dovetails with executive orders signed by President Donald Trump at the beginning of the year, aimed at bolstering national security and combating antisemitism.
One order directed the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, attorney general, and director of national intelligence to rigorously vet foreign nationals, particularly from high-risk regions.
Another mandated using “all available and appropriate legal tools, to prosecute, remove, or otherwise hold to account the perpetrators of unlawful anti-Semitic harassment and violence.”
