It’s not too early to start thinking about the next presidential race. American’s are already curious who will throw their hat in the ring.
And the world’s richest man has endorsed this Republican for the 2028 presidential election.
Elon Musk’s Political Pivot: Backing Vance and Pausing the America Party
Elon Musk, the world’s richest innovator, has reportedly put his ambitious “America Party” on hold to maintain strong ties with key Republicans, particularly Vice President JD Vance, whom he sees as a potential 2028 presidential candidate. Sources close to Musk, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, reveal that he’s choosing to focus on his business empire rather than shaking up the two-party system.
The Tesla and SpaceX visionary had previously floated the idea of the “America Party” to challenge Washington’s political establishment.
Per the Wall Street Journal, Musk confided in associates that launching this new venture could jeopardize his relationship with Vance, who is widely viewed as the next leader of the MAGA movement following President Trump’s second term.
Musk’s support for Vance is more than just talk. Insiders say he’s ready to bankroll Vance’s potential 2028 presidential run with financial backing.
This follows Musk’s massive $300 million investment in Trump and other GOP campaigns during the 2024 elections, which helped push Trump back to the White House.
While Musk hasn’t entirely ruled out the “America Party,” his allies told the Journal he’s waiting to see how the 2026 midterm elections unfold before making a final decision.
This cautious approach likely reflects his desire to avoid alienating Republican allies who have become vital to his growing political influence.
The idea of a new party emerged in July amid Musk’s public feud with Trump over the Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Musk referred to as a “disgusting abomination” for its reckless government spending.
He proposed targeting “2 or 3 Senate Seats and 8 to 10 House districts” to support primary challengers against Republicans who backed the bill. Trump fired back, threatening to terminate Musk’s federal contracts, intensifying their clash.
Musk has made cutting the national deficit a core political mission. He briefly spearheaded the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at cutting federal spending, before stepping away in May.
Since then, Musk and Trump seem to have mended fences, with Musk noticeably dialing back his criticism of the president and other GOP leaders.
Vance could reap enormous benefits from Musk’s wealth and clout if selected to lead the MAGA movement forward.
When asked for comment by the Wall Street Journal, Vance’s team directed them to a recent Gateway Pundit interview where he warned conservatives against breaking ranks with MAGA, expressing hope that Elon Musk would “come back into the fold” by the midterms.
Musk, responding to the Journal’s report, took to X to declare, “Nothing @WSJ says should ever be thought of as true.”
His enigmatic statement leaves room for speculation about his future political plans as he navigates his alliances and ambitions.
