People want answers for this case. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the one to find them.
And RFK Jr. has launched an investigation that could change everything about this high-profile case.
Health Secretary Launches Probe into Medications and Transgender Shooter’s Motives
In a striking announcement on Thursday, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed plans to investigate whether medications taken by transgender shooter Robin Westman during his transition could have fueled the horrific violence at Annunciation Catholic School and Church in Minneapolis. The attack, which unfolded during the school’s first Mass of the academic year, has left the nation grappling with grief and questions.
Speaking on Fox & Friends, Kennedy addressed speculation about a link between Westman’s transition-related drugs and the shooting. “We are doing those kind of studies now,” he said, confirming that his department is diving into research to explore whether such medications played “a role” in the tragedy.
He drew parallels to another case, referencing Audrey Hale, a transgender individual who carried out a school shooting in Nashville in 2023.
While Kennedy remained tight-lipped about the specific drugs Westman or Hale may have used, he voiced alarm about Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), which are prescribed for depression.
“Some of the SSRI drugs and some other psychiatric drugs might be contributing to violence,” he warned, pointing to black-box warnings that flag risks of su*cidal and homicidal thoughts. “So we can’t exclude those as a culprit, and those are the kind of studies we are doing,” he added.
Kennedy acknowledged that patient confidentiality rules have historically slowed such inquiries but stressed that his department has the authority to sidestep these barriers to probe potential ties between medications and mental health crises.
The Health Secretary framed the issue as a uniquely American problem. “There was no time in the past when people would walk into a church or a classroom and start shooting people,” he stated.
“It’s not really happening in other countries, it’s happening here. And we need to look at all of the potential culprits that might be contributing to that.”
The FBI, led by Director Kash Patel, is treating Wednesday’s massacre as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime against Catholics. Westman, a 23-year-old who changed his name from Robert to Robin in 2020, had struggled with su*cidal thoughts and expressed regret over transitioning.
His attack mirrors the 2023 Nashville shooting by Hale, a 28-year-old who transitioned from female to male and targeted a Christian school where she once studied.
Both shooters had no prior criminal records, and both left behind chilling plans—Westman, like Hale, had ties to the school he attacked. He was a previous student at the school and his mother was employed there from 2016 until her 2021 retirement.
During the attack, Westman, clad in black and camouflage, barricaded the church doors and unleashed a hail of bullets through its stained glass windows.
Two children, ages 8 and 10, were k*lled while praying in the pews. Westman later died by suicide in the church parking lot, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.
Of the 17 others injured, 14 are children, with two in critical condition but expected to live.
As the nation mourns, Kennedy’s investigation into the potential role of medications that Westman took could provide further scrutiny for medical transitioning practices that transgenders take part in.
