Congress just returned from a long break. But now they have to immediately solve a crisis.
And the U.S. Capitol is on fire after Congress rushes to stop this major threat.
The European Union is coming for free speech, and it’s time Americans take notice. The EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) is a blatant power grab, designed to control what’s said online—not just in Europe, but right here in the U.S. Free speech fighters are sounding the alarm, demanding Congress step up to protect First Amendment rights from this foreign assault. The House Judiciary Committee is held a hearing Wednesday to confront this threat head-on.
The DSA is Brussels’ latest scheme to police the internet. It gives the European Commission authority to hit tech companies with massive fines—up to six percent of their global revenue—if they don’t crack down on what the EU labels disinformation. For companies like Google or Meta, that’s a financial death sentence. Faced with such penalties, these companies aren’t just encouraged to censor—they’re forced to.
“Europe wants to be the global leader in censorship,” wrote Lorcán Price of Alliance Defending Freedom International in testimony that was shared with The Daily Wire.
“Its obsession with harmonization and regulation is at odds with the values of free speech and a free press. Those are universal human freedoms as well as traditional European values, but increasingly they are treated by some as a social ill that should be purged from enlightened society.”
The DSA goes further than fines. It enlists private groups to act as speech cops, sniffing out content that doesn’t align with the EU’s agenda.
With billions on the line, tech companies are pushed to over-censor, deleting posts and banning users just to stay safe. “When 6% of your global revenue is at stake, complying with speech codes is never voluntary. And now that the DSA is mandatory and additional add-ons are coming, American companies will be, at best, forced to stop innovating and start policing speech,” Price wrote stated.
This playbook has been seen before. During COVID, the EU pressured platforms to wipe out posts questioning masks or lockdowns.
Hundreds of thousands of posts disappeared, and countless accounts were suspended—not for breaking laws, but for challenging the approved narrative. People were silenced, all because the EU decided their opinions were dangerous.
The Judiciary Committee is bringing in big names to expose this outrage. British patriot Nigel Farage will testify alongside App Association President Morgan Reed. These voices are crucial to waking up Congress.
Alliance Defending Freedom’s Jeremy Tedesco is pushing for action. He wants Congress to create incentives for companies to defend free speech, not cave to foreign demands. “Our speech could be deleted without you knowing it, and certainly, without you understanding the reasons for it. I mean, most of the censorship under the DSA happens behind the veil,” Tedesco said when speaking with The Daily Wire.
The EU’s arrogance peaked just before the 2024 election. EU industry chief Thierry Breton tried to bully Elon Musk, warning him to follow DSA rules before his interview with President Donald Trump on X.
This isn’t just a tech problem—it’s a threat to every American. The DSA means your posts, your videos, your thoughts could be erased because some unelected Eurocrat doesn’t like them
The EU’s obsession with control is a direct attack on Americans’ way of life. Free speech is the bedrock of the nation’s ability to challenge power, expose lies, and hold leaders accountable. When foreign governments start deciding what people can say, they’re not just losing a platform—they’re losing their independence.
If the EU gets away with this, others will follow. China, Russia, or any regime that hates free speech could start demanding American companies bow to their rules.
The voices testifying before Congress aren’t just raising alarms—they’re offering solutions. Farage, Reed, and others are calling for policies to protect innovation, free speech, and American sovereignty.
This fight hits home. The EU’s DSA isn’t just Europe’s problem—it’s an attack on American liberty.
