The Left can’t seem to stay out of trouble. In fact, that’s about the only thing they’re good at.
And a Democrat governor’s scandal involving a celebrity will make your jaw drop.
Unfortunately there will always be crooked politicians present in our government.
But what this Democrat did was shocking.
According to Politico and documents that they received, Governor Phil Murphy (D-NJ) reportedly used taxpayer dollars to foot the bill for events he attended at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
This includes almost $1,000 at a Taylor Swift concert.
In total, Murphy racked up a $12,000 bill by attending these events, and used the state’s expense account to cover it. The state’s expense account has a total of $95,000 in it.
The account is only supposed to be used for “Official Receptions, Official Residence, and Other Official Expenses.”
Governor Murphy clearly used it for personal use which is obviously not what it’s intended for.
Now, his office is asking the Democrat Party in New Jersey to pay the bill since apparently they’ve done so in the past.
“Once it was clear that there were outstanding bills that had not been paid, the state stepped up to meet this responsibility,” Murphy’s spokeswoman, Jennifer Sciortino told Politico.
“We are pursuing reimbursement from the state party for costs incurred at MetLife Stadium.”
The expenses were racked up between 2018 and 2019 and included $936 for snacks at a Taylor Swift concert in 2018. $1,413 was spent on refreshments at another concert in 2019.
Murphy also spent $90 on bottled water and $45 for guacamole when attending sporting events at the stadium.
Those purchases right there should tell you all you need to know about the Democrat’s poor spending habits.
The New Jersey Democratic State Committee has had a spokesperson address the situation, saying that the party wasn’t aware of the purchases by Governor Murphy due to a change in leadership within the party.
Now, the committee will look into next steps to try and solve the issue.
Either way this is a bad look for Governor Murphy and his administration.
While there are New Jersey citizens in the state who are living pay check to pay check, Murphy is attending high profile concerts and spending thousands of dollars on refreshments in the process.
