The president hasn’t had a lot of success during any of his recent speeches. But this one was as bad as it gets.

As Biden falls flat on his face on stage during a desperate attempt to sway this crucial voter group.

President Joe Biden delivered a shaky speech at the 115th NAACP conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday, leading to a notable misstatement regarding his policy proposal.

The event, which ran parallel to the Republican National Convention, was a platform for Biden to rally support among minority voters. However, his performance may not have instilled confidence in the more skeptical members of the Democratic Party.

One of the most significant blunders occurred when Biden appeared to incorrectly state his proposal concerning a cap on rent increases.

“Look, folks, the idea, the idea that corporate-owned housing is able to raise your rent, [300], 400 bucks a month or something? Well, I’m about to announce that they can’t raise it more than—” Biden said before stopping to lean forward while squinting, “$55.”

The audience responded with enthusiasm to the substantial proposal. However, the actual intended cap was likely 5%, not $55.

In another part of his speech, Biden addressed former President Donald Trump’s remark about immigrants taking “black jobs” by listing positions he had appointed black individuals to. During this segment, he inadvertently suggested that former President Barack Obama had become his own vice president and was also a woman.

“I know that a black job is the first black president in American history, Barack Obama,” Biden said to cheers. “I was vice president to Barack, and she is my vice president.”

Additionally, Biden seemed to overlook the riots that occurred following George Floyd’s death, claiming that black protesters were entirely peaceful and criticizing then-President Trump for attempting to deploy the National Guard against them.

“And you peacefully protested George Floyd’s murder. Donald Trump called for the National Guard to go after you,” Biden stated. “What the hell is the matter with this man?”

Biden also defended his harsh criticism of Trump in light of an assassination attempt against him, emphasizing the importance of truth-telling.

“Now, just because we must lower the temperature … it doesn’t mean we should stop telling the truth. Who you are, what you’ve done, what you’ll do, that’s fair game,” he said. “As Harry Truman said, ‘I’ve never delivered or given anyone hell. I just told the truth that they thought it was hell.’ And that’s what I’m going to do. Where’s the truth about why Donald Trump’s presidency was held for black America?”

Despite his criticism of Trump, Biden expressed that he was praying for the former president following the attempt on his life. But that sentiment seems shallow based on how the president has and continues to spew hateful, divisive rhetoric about the former president and his supporters.
