The radical Left despises Thomas and the Supreme Court. They want to completely overhaul it to serve their interests.
And Clarence Thomas is about to get booted from the Supreme Court after Harris revealed her latest evil scheme.
On Monday, the Harris-Walz campaign released a detailed policy platform, which includes a controversial plan that could lead to the forced retirement of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas by next year. This proposal could also potentially remove two more justices appointed by Republicans by the end of the decade.
The release of this policy came just before Vice President Kamala Harris is set to take the debate stage against former President Donald Trump. Among the policies listed, the campaign emphasizes reforms on the Supreme Court that are allegedly common-sense, such as the introduction of term limits for justices.
However, specifics regarding the length of these terms or how long a justice would be allowed to serve before mandatory retirement remain vague. Instead, much of the campaign’s focus on its website targets Trump for nominating three conservative justices during his presidency.
“Donald Trump handpicked members of the United States Supreme Court to take away reproductive freedom — and now he brags about it,” reads a statement under the campaign’s “Restore And Protect Reproductive Freedoms” section.
While the term limits proposal has drawn significant attention, Harris’s team has signaled that her stance aligns with an even more detailed strategy to replace at least three Republican-appointed justices by 2029. This comes from a statement by her ally, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), who spoke to The Dispatch last month.
“They have not gone so far as to say, ‘We endorse your bill.’ They have said that your bills are precisely aligned with what we are talking about,” Whitehouse said, referring to Senate Bill 3096, also known as the Supreme Court Biennial Appointments and Term Limits Act. This legislation would impose 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices, even though members of Congress face no such restrictions.
The bill, if passed, would require the president to nominate a new justice every two years, and the Senate would need to confirm the appointments. Only the nine most recently appointed justices would participate in oral arguments, while the others would transition to a semi-retired status, available for appellate cases when necessary, such as in situations involving recusals.
Should the legislation pass during a Harris presidency, Justice Thomas could be replaced in 2025, followed by Chief Justice John Roberts in 2027. If Harris secured a second term, Justice Samuel Alito, who penned the opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, could be subject to forced retirement as well.
Passing such a law would usually require a two-thirds majority in Congress, but Whitehouse has hinted that if Democrats reclaim control of the House, Senate, and the White House, the bill could be passed with a simple majority.
Despite these ambitions, legal scholars have warned that passing Supreme Court term limits would face significant constitutional challenges. Article 3 of the Constitution stipulates that judges and justices hold their offices during “good behavior,” meaning they cannot be removed involuntarily unless impeached by the House and convicted in the Senate by a two-thirds majority.
Whitehouse’s bill represents one of the most comprehensive efforts by Democrats to reform the Supreme Court through legislation. However, it remains unclear what other Supreme Court-related reforms Harris was referring to on her campaign website. In addition to term limits, Harris has voiced her support for a binding ethics code for the Supreme Court justices.
Alongside these Supreme Court reforms, the Harris-Walz campaign also endorsed other significant but polarizing measures, such as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act. Republicans have raised concerns over both bills, arguing they could lead to less-secure elections and restrictions on free speech.
The Left’s Disturbing Hatred of the Supreme Court
Ever since 2022 when Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, the radical Left has been calling for a complete overhaul on the nation’s highest court.
They think that the Court needs to rule their way and their way only. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Harris and her campaign have proposed these so-called reforms on the Supreme Court. They’ve been talking about doing something like this for at least two years now.
If Democrats had their way, they would have already packed the Court with radical justices who will kowtow to them.
The Left simply can’t play by the rules when they lose. That’s why they’re so obsessed with destroying the United States Supreme Court as we know it.
