The Left is known for their relentless attacks towards Trump. But this certainly crossed the line.
And a Democrat mayor just uttered an abhorrent comment about Donald Trump that will make you cringe.
Chicago Mayor Slams Trump’s Economic Policies, Likens Second Term to Historical Tyranny
During a weekly press conference, Chicago’s Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson unleashed a scathing critique of President Donald Trump’s economic agenda and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), drawing stark comparisons to authoritarian regimes of the past. Johnson positioned Chicago as a stronghold for workers, fiercely defending its “pro-worker” identity against what he described as aggressive policies emanating from Washington.
“The fact that the President of the United States of America is cutting off food supply and medicine to working people and families across this country — that is an act of war,” Johnson declared. “And we’re going to need leaders who are prepared and willing to stand up for working people because this battle has reached our front doors all across America where people are struggling and suffering. And in order to alleviate that pain and discomfort, it’s going to require bold leadership. We can’t tippy toe.”
When pressed by a reporter on how Chicago could collaborate with the Trump administration from such a confrontational stance, Johnson pointed to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s February State of the State address.
Pritzker had warned of historical parallels, noting how it “took the N*zi’s one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and 40 minutes to dismantle a Constitutional Republic.” Johnson echoed this sentiment, framing Trump’s actions as a direct threat to democratic values.
“Governor Pritzker… offered up a warning,” Johnson stated. “You have a president that is cutting off medicine and food, a president that is working to erase culture. I mean, you can’t make this up. He’s doing it in plain sight.”
Pritzker’s earlier remarks had likened Trump’s rise to that of Adolf Hitler, who capitalized on “inflation and [the public] looking for someone to blame” to seize power. Johnson doubled down, oddly suggesting that Trump’s policies mirror a dangerous historical playbook.
He argued that the president is “carry[ing] out the playbook that was done against an entire people-group,” targeting working-class communities and attempting to erase cultural contributions, particularly those of Black Americans, from museums and historical narratives.
“He’s doing it right here in this country, against working people, erasing Black folks from museums and the history and the culture,” Johnson said. “So, when you ask how we balance that. You have to fight it and resist it with everything that’s in you.”
Johnson framed Trump’s actions as a direct assault on the aspirations of working Americans, accusing the president of holding them “hostage” while undermining democratic institutions. Chicago has joined a coalition of cities, including Baltimore, Santa Clara, and Harris County, in a lawsuit to block DOGE’s aggressive cuts to federal agencies.
Chicago Deputy Corporation Counsel Steve Kane, speaking to the city’s ABC affiliate, called the president’s moves unconstitutional, noting, “Congress created these federal agencies. It funded them. But the president is trying to fire all these people and gut these agencies that Congress created.”
The impact of DOGE’s cost-cutting measures has hit Chicago hard. The cancellation of the Energy Department’s 2025 Small Business Expo, originally slated for June, is one of several reductions affecting the city.
Additionally, the Trump administration’s push to consolidate federal real estate has led to the closure of offices for the Federal Transit Administration, SEC, Labor Relations Authority, and Civil Corps of Engineers in Chicago. A federally-owned art collection in the city faces staffing cuts, according to Axios.
The Department of Health & Human Services’ regional office in Illinois, serving 28,000 low-income families, has also been shuttered. Meanwhile, Chicago’s status as a sanctuary city puts it at risk of losing federal funding, a threat the Trump administration has repeatedly leveraged.
To address its own budget shortfalls, the city recently enlisted Ernst & Young to identify solutions, as reported by Bloomberg.
Johnson’s remarks signal an unhinged viewpoint of the Trump administration and their efforts to slash government waste and inefficiency.
His comparison of Trump to Adolph Hitler is a tired tactic that has fallen on deaf ears in America. United States citizens are sick of being told they support N*zism simply because they voted for a president who is working to fix the country from the destruction inflicted upon it by radical Leftists like Mayor Johnson.
