The United States Secret Service is tasked with protecting the former president. But their lapses in security have become incredibly worrisome.
And Donald Trump is fearing for his life after yet another Secret Service failure.
Trump’s Stage Appearance Delayed by Security Incident at Nashville Conference
Former President Donald Trump experienced a brief delay before taking the stage at a conference in Nashville on Saturday due to a security incident, according to the New York Post.
The delay occurred when two individuals bypassed metal detectors at the Music City Center, where the 2024 Bitcoin conference was being held. According to law enforcement sources, the incident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m.
In a statement to the New York Post on Monday night, the Secret Service explained that the two individuals were “credentialed and screened,” but they were removed from the premises for not following proper entry procedures.
“It was determined that there was no protective interest with these individuals and there was never a threat to the former president,” a Secret Service spokesperson clarified.
As Trump prepared to give the keynote address, his security team instructed him to wait until the individuals were located, sources reported.
Once the two individuals were found, they were escorted from the event and questioned. According to sources, neither person faced criminal charges.
The individuals were stopped at an initial checkpoint but managed to bypass the second screening, sources added.
An email seeking comment from the Trump campaign was not returned yet.
This incident follows another security lapse about two weeks earlier, when Trump was grazed by a bullet during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The failed assassination attempt has led to intense criticism and scrutiny of the Secret Service, with lawmakers demanding answers about the security breach.
Amid the controversy, former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned from her position last week.
Can Secret Service Be Trusted?
This security lapses by the United States Secret Service have been undoubtedly concerning.
It’s a miracle that Donald Trump wasn’t k*lled during the attempted assassination attempt several weeks ago. The shooter should have never been able to get a shot off but thanks to failures by the Secret Service and local law enforcement, several bullets managed to be fired by the would-be assassin’s weapon.
The Secret Service is full of brave men and women who are willing to risk their lives to protect former and current presidents.
However, major reform needs to be enacted into the Secret Service in order to avoid anymore of these serious security slip-ups.
Now that Kimberly Cheatle has resigned from her post, legislators in Washington, D.C. are hopeful that positive change can come to the protective agency.
