Harris’ campaign is hoping to gather some positive momentum right now. But those hopes are about to be crushed.
As Kamala Harris’ latest test results have sent Democrats into a state of panic.
Polling data reveals that Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (OH) is currently more popular than presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris, contradicting the narrative often presented by establishment media.
CNN’s senior political data reporter, Harry Enten, recently expressed confusion over former President Donald Trump’s choice of Vance as his running mate, citing Vance’s net favorability as below average.
However, data from Wall Street Journal polling suggests otherwise, showing that 42 percent of registered voters view Vance favorably, while 44 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him.
In comparison, Harris faces more significant disapproval. According to the same poll, 52 percent of respondents view her unfavorably, with 46 percent holding a favorable opinion.
Notably, this represents Harris’s best favorability showing in the 2024 election cycle.

The situation worsens for Harris when looking at aggregated polling data from FiveThirtyEight, which indicates her net approval rating is 13.7 percent negative.
Democrats have launched a national campaign attacking Vance, labeling him as “weird” in an effort to diminish his appeal as Trump’s running mate. However, Republicans have pointed out numerous instances of perceived “weirdness” among Democrats and other left-leaning figures.
In response, Vance expressed pride in being targeted by Democrats, stating, “Look, the price of admission — meaning, the price of getting to serve the people of this country — is the Democrats are going to attack us with everything that they have. I think it’s an honor.”

Vance’s supporters and critics alike may find it understandable why Harris struggles with public perception. Her endorsement of the Defund the Police movement, association with President Joe Biden’s policies — which have led to significant inflation — and her perceived failures in addressing the migrant crisis and expanding high-speed internet access have all contributed to her negative ratings.
A poll conducted by the Senate Opportunity Fund found that a strong majority of Americans blame Harris for Biden’s policies. The survey further revealed that Harris’s approval rating is underwater, with 51 percent viewing her unfavorably, and only 43 percent holding a favorable opinion. Moreover, when asked if Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race was “political” or “patriotic,” 53 percent deemed it a political move, while only 38 percent considered it patriotic.
The poll also captured public sentiment towards Harris, with most respondents using negative descriptors. The top five words associated with her were mostly unfavorable, with “unqualified” at 42 percent and “unprepared” at 38 percent topping the list.
The only positive word, “qualified,” was chosen by 31 percent, while “weak” and “liberal” followed at 31 percent and 30 percent, respectively.
In a direct comparison, when asked who better unifies the country, more respondents favored Trump (44 percent) over Harris (43 percent).
This margin widened in swing states, with Trump receiving 47 percent support compared to Harris’s 44 percent.
These polling results illustrate a challenging landscape for Harris and the Democratic campaign, as they contend with a formidable opponent in former President Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance.
