The Democrat Party is in shambles. Their politicians are suffering defeats left and right.

And this latest test result has a Democrat shaking in fear.

California voters are turning against Governor Gavin Newsom in droves, with dissatisfaction reaching levels not seen since 2024.

A fresh poll reveals a growing wave of frustration that’s hammering the Democrat’s image right as he eyes bigger national ambitions.

The Emerson College survey, polling 1,000 registered voters, shows 45% now disapprove of Newsom’s handling of the state’s affairs. That’s the worst mark since October 2024 and jumps six points from just December 2025.

On the flip side, only 44% approve of his performance—a three-point slide from December. This shift paints a picture of a governor losing ground fast among the people he’s supposed to serve.

Back in October 2024, disapproval sat at a milder 43%, but things have soured quickly. Everyday Californians seem ready to send a message that the status quo isn’t cutting it anymore.

When asked about the biggest problems plaguing the Golden State, 37% pointed straight to the economy—a three-point rise from December. That’s no surprise in a place where paychecks barely stretch to cover basics.

Housing affordability came in behind that, with 19% calling it the top headache. Families are getting squeezed, and many blame policies that have let costs spiral out of control.

Opponents of Newsom’s agenda argue that the skyrocketing cost of living has only intensified on his watch. From outrageous housing prices to sky-high gas bills and ballooning insurance rates, it’s hitting hardworking folks hardest.

They blame heavy-handed green rules, bans on fresh oil drilling permits, and dragged-out home building processes for keeping prices painfully elevated.

A staggering 53% of those surveyed admitted they’ve thought about packing up and fleeing California because of these affordability woes. That’s a d*mning indictment of leadership that’s driving residents away.

Business owners and industry leaders aren’t holding back either, slamming the endless red tape and punishing taxes that make it tough to thrive. In a state that should be a beacon of opportunity, these barriers are choking growth.

Meanwhile, Newsom’s been jet-setting to fancy international gatherings like the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Munich Security Conference.

Republicans are calling him out for hobnobbing with global elites while Californians struggle back home.

This globe-trotting comes as Newsom ramps up efforts for a possible 2028 White House bid, with his governorship winding down. But with approval tanking, that dream might be slipping away.
