President Biden’s in trouble. His campaign can’t take anymore devastating hits.
And this leaked audio from a leading Democrat could bring down Joe Biden once and for all.
In an unexpected turn of events, Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, known for his strong support of President Biden, was caught on a hot mic Wednesday expressing his concerns about the current state of the presidential race.
“I mean, we’re just going to keep fighting. I don’t know what to say. You know, got to do what we have to do,” Pritzker was overheard saying to an unidentified man on the sidelines of a crime-fighting event in Chicago.
The governor didn’t hide his discontent, adding, “I don’t like where we are.”
A spokesperson for Pritzker clarified to NBC Chicago that these comments were in reference to the presidential race and the ongoing debate surrounding the 81-year-old president’s position as the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Pritzker, who is 59, has been mentioned as a potential successor should Biden decide to step down from the race.
Despite this speculation, the first-term governor has consistently voiced his support for Biden’s candidacy, even after the president’s challenging debate with former President Donald Trump last month.
“Joe Biden is our nominee. I’m for Joe Biden. I’ve been campaigning for Joe Biden,” Pritzker stated to reporters earlier this week.
However, he did not entirely dismiss the possibility of a presidential run himself if Biden were to withdraw from the race.
Last week, Pritzker was among ten Democratic governors who attended a meeting at the White House with President Biden.
During this meeting, Biden reportedly informed the governors that he needed more rest and planned to avoid events after 8 p.m.
This hot-mic incident coincided with the news that the Biden campaign had canceled a Chicago fundraiser scheduled for next month, according to CNN.
“I think everything’s fluid right now,” Pritzker told reporters on Wednesday when questioned about the cancellation.
“I honestly think the president is doing a fine job of raising money. You see all the money that they’ve raised online for the Biden-Harris campaign. I know of fundraisers that are ongoing,” he added. “So any rumor that you may have heard about something like that, I think, is overblown.”
Gov. Pritzker can try and downplay the disaster that is the Biden/Harris reelection campaign all he wants, but nothing he says will change how voters currently view the president right now.
In most national polls, Joe Biden is viewed in an unfavorable light.
Not only that but he’s trailing former President Trump in many of the key battleground states.
The Democrat Party is simply in damage control mode right now and they may never be able to come out of it.
