The radical Leftist congresswoman is in a state of shock. She’s been caught up in a terrible situation.
And Ocasio-Cortez was attacked by a vicious mob during a speech that left the audience stunned.
Chaos Erupts at AOC Town Hall Over Gaza Conflict
A routine town hall in Jackson Heights, Queens, hosted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spiraled into disorder on Friday when a protester confronted the congresswoman, accusing her of inaction on the “genocide in Gaza.” The exchange ignited a wave of boos and jeers from the crowd, transforming the event into a chaotic spectacle.
Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent figure in New York’s 14th Congressional District and a speculated contender for the 2028 presidential race, was addressing constituents when the disruption erupted.
A woman, identifying herself as a health care worker, stood up and unleashed her frustration. “I am a health care worker, and I want to know what you’re doing about the genocide in Gaza,” she shouted, her voice cutting through the room, as captured in video footage.
The crowd’s reaction was swift and fierce, drowning the protester in a chorus of boos. Undeterred, she pressed on, pointing and yelling at Ocasio-Cortez, who struggled to regain control. “I’m a nurse! Shame on you!” the woman cried out. “Shame on you, you’re a liar. You’re a liar!”
The audience’s anger intensified, with one attendee repeatedly shouting, “Shame! Shame! Shame!” while others hurled indistinct rebuttals at the protester. Security and staff quickly intervened, escorting the woman out as she continued her tirade.
“You’re a war criminal! War criminal! War criminal!” she screamed, her parting words ringing out. “Shame on you, I used to support you!”
Once calm was partially restored, Ocasio-Cortez addressed the outburst. “I more than welcome people who disagree, or are super pissed off at me for any issue to come, but we have some ground rules here,” she stated.
“Please wait for the Q&A because we don’t want to deprive all of our neighbors of the ability to have information and hearing them to respond to it,” she added, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue.
The contentious scene stood in stark contrast to the warm reception Ocasio-Cortez recently enjoyed during her “Fighting Oligarchy” tour alongside Senator Bernie Sanders. That nationwide campaign helped her amass $9.6 million from 266,000 donors, with an average contribution of just $21, according to Fox News.
“I cannot convey enough how grateful I am to the millions of people supporting us with your time, resources, and energy. Your support has allowed us to rally people together at a record scale to organize their communities,” she wrote on X.
Ocasio-Cortez’s rising prominence has fueled speculation about her political future. Political analyst Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight has forecasted that she could dominate the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, per Fox News.
However, not everyone is thrilled by the prospect. Vice President JD Vance, speaking on Fox News’ “Special Report” with Bret Baier, quipped, “President AOC, the stuff of nightmares,” when asked about a potential 2028 matchup. With a wry smile, he added, “You’ve ruined my sleep for the evening.”
