Donald Trump is sticking to his guns. He won’t be convinced to change the course.
But a rogue Congressmember’s stepped out of line with this eyebrow-raising warning shot for Trump.
Rep. Greene Signals Frustration with Trump’s Transparency on Epstein Case
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene issued a warning to President Donald Trump on Monday, suggesting that his base could waver if the Department of Justice fails to provide more details about Jeffrey Epstein’s case. In a social media post, the Georgia Republican alluded to Epstein without naming him, criticizing Trump for offering only fragments of information despite 2024 campaign pledges to prioritize transparency.
“If you tell the base of people, who support you, of deep state treasonous crimes, election interference, blackmail, and rich powerful elite evil cabals, then you must take down every enemy of The People,” Greene wrote, referencing unproven claims Trump and his allies have championed since 2020.
She added, “If not, The base will turn and there’s no further going back. Dangling bits of red meat no longer satisfies. They want the whole steak dinner and will accept nothing else.” Greene did not elaborate on what she meant by the “whole steak dinner”, but she’s likely referring to releasing documents on the Epstein case that would satisfy her.
Greene’s remark about “dangling bits of red meat” follows Trump’s directive to Attorney General Pam Bondi to start unsealing grand jury transcripts from Epstein’s criminal case. It remains uncertain whether a judge will approve the DOJ’s motion.
The administration had previously resisted releasing records related to the DOJ’s probe into Epstein’s death, after a DOJ and FBI memo stated there was no evidence of murder or a “client list” associated with the disgraced financier.
This decision has sparked division within the Republican Party, with Trump supporters nationwide calling for Bondi’s resignation, even as Trump continues to back her. Greene, alongside Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), as well as some Democrats, has co-sponsored a bill to force a vote on releasing the DOJ’s Epstein records.
Trump, who has rejected calls for a special prosecutor, labeled those fixated on the issue as “weaklings” deceived by a Democratic “scam.” The Epstein controversy intensified after a Wall Street Journal report claimed Trump sent Epstein a suggestive birthday letter years ago. Trump denounced the letter as fabricated and filed a $20 billion defamation lawsuit against the outlet.
Over the weekend, Trump acknowledged that unsealing the grand jury transcripts might not appease all critics. “With that being said, and even if the Court gave its full and unwavering approval, nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request. It will always be more, more, more. MAGA!” Trump wrote on TruthSocial on Saturday.
Trump’s Base Remains Steadfast Amid Epstein Controversy
Despite the ongoing Epstein controversy, President Donald Trump continues to enjoy robust support from his core base during his second term, according to recent analyses from multiple sources, including posts on social media platforms and news reports. His supporters remain energized, viewing him as a steadfast leader against perceived establishment corruption.
Polls conducted in early 2025, such as one from Rasmussen Reports, indicate that Trump’s approval rating among Republican voters hovers around 85%, a figure largely unchanged since his inauguration. This resilience persists even as discussions about Epstein’s case have resurfaced, with many supporters dismissing the allegations as distractions or fabrications by political opponents.
The Epstein case, particularly the Wall Street Journal’s report about an alleged birthday letter, has not significantly dented Trump’s base. Supporters on platforms like TruthSocial have rallied behind his defamation lawsuit, framing it as a fight against a biased media. A report from The Hill noted that Trump’s legal action has further galvanized his followers, who see it as evidence of his willingness to confront powerful institutions.
Grassroots organizations, such as those tracked by Breitbart, have organized rallies in key states like Florida and Texas, drawing thousands to voice their continued loyalty. These events often highlight Trump’s policy wins, including tax cuts and border security measures, which overshadow the Epstein-related criticisms for many.
Some GOP strategists, quoted in a recent Fox News segment, argue that Trump’s base is “immune” to controversies like Epstein’s due to years of media scrutiny they perceive as unfair. This sentiment is echoed in conservative blogs, where supporters argue the focus on Epstein is a rehash of old, unproven claims meant to undermine Trump’s agenda.
