The establishment members of the GOP are hoping Trump loses the election this fall. They’re even going as far as joining forces with Democrats to spite the former President.
And this RINO delivered a lethal blow to Donald Trump by issuing their support of Kamala Harris.
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) lauded Vice President Kamala Harris’ performance in her debate against former President Donald Trump on Wednesday, emphasizing her intelligence and competence in handling the high-stakes political exchange.
Romney, who has long been a vocal critic of Trump and has not supported the GOP nominee since 2016, spoke to reporters on Capitol Hill about Harris’ ability to engage with the media during the ABC News debate.
“She is an intelligent, capable person who has a point of view on issues,” Romney remarked, stating that Harris successfully “answered questions from the media.” He added, “Those were answered well. She spoke well and clearly, and I think she prosecuted her case well.”
Romney, who ran for president in 2012 and lost to former President Barack Obama, believes Harris seized the opportunity to distinguish herself from Trump in front of approximately 67 million viewers.
“Most people didn’t know her terribly well other than a few clips that were not flattering, that you might see on the internet,” he pointed out. “People saw, actually, she’s an intelligent, capable person who has a point of view on issues. And she actually demonstrated that time and again.”
In contrast, Romney referred to Trump’s performance as just that—“a performance.” He described it as “classic President Trump,” stating that the former president pursued his case as he saw fit.
During the debate, Harris, 59, invoked Romney’s name, noting her support from “200 Republicans who have formerly worked with President [George W] Bush, Mitt Romney, and John McCain.”
Though Romney has not endorsed Harris, he made it clear earlier this year that he would “absolutely not” be voting for Trump. “With President Trump, it’s a matter of personal character,” Romney said back in June. “I draw a line and say when someone has been actually found to have been sexually assaulting, that’s something I just won’t cross over in the person I would want to have as president of the United States.”
Harris recently pledged to include a Republican in her Cabinet if she wins the presidency, sparking speculation among anti-Trump Republicans that Romney could be the one chosen.
A political action committee backing Harris, composed of former Nikki Haley supporters, posted on X, “We hope that [Harris] invites [Romney] to serve in some capacity if she wins. Whether he endorses her or not, he is a patriot who believes in a strong America and answers the call of service.”
Romney, however, has remained focused on his criticisms of Trump, standing firm in his disapproval of the former president’s actions and character while recognizing Harris’ ability to hold her own on the national stage.
Romney Blinded By Trump Derangement Syndrome
Mitt Romney’s thoughts on former President Trump are obvious. He clearly can’t stand Trump and is going out of his way to make note of that.
However, to suggest that Kamala Harris performed well during the debate and gave clear and definitive answers, is just ridiculous.
There were many times during the debate when Harris uttered a word salad instead of actually answering a question.
But apparently to Romney, this constituted as providing clear responses that proved she’s capable of being the next president of the United States.
Maybe if Mitt Romney wasn’t suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, he would’ve been able to see just how poor of a performance Harris had during the debate between herself and the former president.
