The GOP can’t afford to lose anymore elections. But this presidential decision will change everything.
And this RINO made a presidential campaign announcement that leaves Republicans stunned.
Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) made headlines earlier this fall when he announced that he wasn’t for reelection next year.
Most members of the Republican party rejoiced as Romney has cozied up to Democrats too much with his RINO-like stances on key issues.
But then, there was talk that the senator was stepping down from his post so that he could run for president to stop Donald Trump from winning a second term.
And now those rumors have finally been extinguished by Romney’s chief of staff Liz Johnson who stated that he is “not considering running for President on any ticket.”
This announcement comes after a “Draft Romney Manchin Committee” was created as a Federal Elections Commission filing.
Romney has also come forward saying that he didn’t know the effort to get him and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) on the presidential ticket, was occurring.
He also explained that he didn’t know who created the filing.

According to KSL TV out of Utah, “The FEC filing came before Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia announced he would not be running for reelection in 2024. The Associated Press reported that a group was pushing for Manchin to partner with Romney, who is also retiring from the Senate, to seek a third-party presidential bid.”
“That group filed the paperwork to form a formal draft committee on Thursday.”
Romney’s decision to not run for president comes as a bit of a surprise for some.
He’s repeatedly explained how much disdain he has for former President Donald Trump and hopes that he won’t win a second term.
“Donald Trump represents a failure of character, which is changing, I think, in many respects, the psyche of our nation and the heart of our nation,” the senator told CBS’s Sunday Morning program back in October.
“And that’s something which takes a long time, if ever, to repair.”
Romney also bashed Trump when he announced his decision to retire from the Senate, saying that “neither President Biden nor former President Trump are leading their party to confront” all the “critical challenges” the country endures.
Donald Trump didn’t hold back on Romney after his announcement, posting on Truth Social that it’s “FANTASTIC NEWS FOR AMERICA, THE GREAT STATE OF UTAH, & FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.”
It’s unlikely that Mitt Romney would’ve been a major roadblock for Trump’s campaign, but his decision to not run for president, certainly makes things easier for Trump as we move closer to the 2024 election.
