The Trump administration is not playing around. Especially the new-look Department of Justice.
Because the U.S. attorney general just sent out this shocking four word threat.
DOJ Head Pam Bondi Promises Crackdown on Those Shielding Illegal Immigrants
Attorney General Pam Bondi has issued a stern warning to judges across the nation: help illegal immigrants evade law enforcement, and you will face prosecution. This comes as part of an effort under President Trump’s administration to secure the borders and ensure that no one, not even those in positions of power, can flout the law without consequences. On Friday, Bondi made it crystal clear that the days of judicial overreach and leniency toward illegal activity are over.
Bondi’s fiery remarks on “America Reports” followed the arrests of two judges accused of protecting illegal immigrants from justice. Former New Mexico Democratic Judge Jose “Joel” Cano and his wife were taken into custody on Thursday, while Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested on Friday. Cano and his wife face serious charges for allegedly harboring a dangerous Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang member in their home. Dugan, meanwhile, is accused of helping a migrant charged with violent crimes dodge Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. These cases send a powerful message: the law applies to everyone, no matter their title or influence.
“They’re deranged is all I can think of … I think some of these judges think they are beyond and above the law and they are not,” Bondi declared. “And we’re sending a very strong message today if you are harboring a fugitive, we don’t care who you are. If you are helping hide one, if you are giving a TdA member guns, anyone who is illegally in this country, we will come after you and prosecute you. We will find you.” Her words resonate with the Trump administration’s unwavering commitment to cracking down on illegal immigration and the networks that enable it, including those within the judiciary.
The case of Judge Cano is particularly shocking. According to the Albuquerque Journal, Cano resigned in March after 23-year-old Venezuelan national Cristhian Ortega-Lopez was arrested at his home. Ortega-Lopez, who illegally entered the U.S. in 2023, had reportedly been living in a “casita” behind Cano’s home, an arrangement facilitated by Cano’s wife, Nancy. The Department of Justice revealed that federal authorities executed search warrants related to illegal firearm possession and other offenses involving four illegal migrants, including Ortega-Lopez. This scandal exposes the dangerous consequences of judges who prioritize personal agendas over public safety.
In Milwaukee, Judge Dugan’s actions were equally egregious. On April 18, ICE agents arrived at her courthouse to apprehend a migrant scheduled for a hearing. Instead of cooperating with federal authorities, Dugan allegedly instructed the migrant and his attorney to slip away through a hallway to another floor, out of ICE’s reach. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed that the FBI arrested Dugan on Friday, signaling that such blatant obstruction of justice will not go unpunished.
“No one is above the law in this country. And if you are destroying evidence, if you are obstructing justice — when you have victims sitting in a courtroom of domestic violence and you’re escorting a criminal defendant out a back door — it will not be tolerated and it is a crime in the United States of America,” Bondi emphasized. “Doesn’t matter who you are, you’re going to be prosecuted.” Her resolute stance aligns with the Trump administration’s promise to hold accountable those who undermine the safety of American citizens.
FBI Director Kash Patel further illuminated Dugan’s misconduct in a Friday X post, which he briefly deleted before reposting. “We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest,” Patel wrote. “Thankfully, our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public.” Patel’s account underscores the reckless behavior of judges who prioritize illegal immigrants over the rule of law, putting communities at risk.
These arrests mark a turning point in the fight against illegal immigration. For too long, certain judges have operated under the assumption that their robes grant them immunity from accountability. Bondi’s message shatters that illusion, reinforcing the Trump administration’s commitment to rooting out corruption and restoring integrity to the judicial system. By targeting those who shield dangerous criminals, the administration is taking concrete steps to protect American families from the threats posed by unchecked illegal immigration.
The implications of these cases extend far beyond the individuals involved. They serve as a warning to other judges who might be tempted to obstruct justice or harbor illegal immigrants. The Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policy leaves no room for ambiguity: anyone who aids and abets illegal activity will face the full force of the law. This approach not only strengthens border security but also rebuilds public trust in a system that has, at times, appeared to favor criminals over law-abiding citizens.
