The View flips the script with a devastating broadside against Gavin Newsom

The ladies of The View are anything but conservative. But even they couldn’t stand for this.

So now The View flipped the script with a devastating broadside against Gavin Newsom.

Newsom’s Alarmism Undermines Trust in Elections, Critics Charge

On Friday’s The View, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin sharply rebuked California Gov. Gavin Newsom for declaring that Americans “won’t have a country” or “a fair and free” election under President Trump, calling the rhetoric “wholly irresponsible” from the leader of the nation’s largest state.

Newsom had told ABC News on Thursday that Trump seeks a “Putin election,” a claim Griffin said ignores his own sweeping authority over California’s voting systems.

“He oversees the cybersecurity infrastructure. He oversees the secretary of state. Down to poll watchers, to election workers, Gavin Newsom has a lot of power,” Griffin pointed out.

“He could, at a minimum, say, ‘I can promise you, California will have a free and fair election, and I’ll work with every governor to make sure that there’s no efforts to undermine them.’ But that’s not what he’s doing.”

Hypocrisy on Monitors and Maps

Griffin drew a pointed parallel between Newsom’s panic over federal election monitors and his own party’s aggressive redistricting. “For him to say this, it reminds me very much of the gerrymandering debate,” she said.

California voters face a November ballot measure to redraw congressional lines in Democrats’ favor—explicitly to counter GOP-led maps in states like Texas—yet Newsom cries foul over DOJ monitors in California and New Jersey.

Co-host Sunny Hostin pushed back, asking how Newsom could guarantee integrity with federal observers present.

Griffin countered: “Because he’s the chief executive of the state.” She called “monitors” an “alarming phrase” but noted Newsom wields the tools to secure elections—tools he’s quick to use when advancing Democratic priorities.

Discouraging Voters, Eroding Confidence

Co-host Sara Haines echoed the concern, warning that Newsom’s doomsday language risks suppressing turnout among already skeptical voters. “People fought hard for those rights to vote, and we already don’t have people showing up at our polls,” she said.

“By planting these seeds, you’re already taking a public that’s lost trust in everything and saying, ‘Your vote doesn’t matter.’ That’s the fastest way to affect an election.”

Haines reminded viewers that courts found zero evidence of fraud in 2020 challenges—a fact Newsom conveniently sidesteps while stoking fear. H

is rhetoric, critics argue, serves political theater, not public confidence, especially as California pushes its own map-rigging measure under the guise of “fairness.”
