The GOP is in danger of losing the midterms. That would be disastrous for the country.
And this Trup foe issued a stark warning about the Republicans’ midterm chances.
In a fiery appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Kentucky Senator Rand Paul delivered a stark warning to his fellow Republicans: keep up the military strikes in Iran, and watch the 2026 midterms turn into a total wipeout for the party.
Paul didn’t mince words about America’s bloated defense budget, pointing out how it’s already towering over everyone else’s. He hammered home the fact that endless foreign entanglements are draining the nation’s coffers dry.
“We currently spend more on our military than the next ten countries combined,” Paul stated bluntly.
“So while there are threats we face around the world, and while we should combat and check China around the world, we spend, you know, four times more than they do, but we spend more than the next ten countries combined.”
The senator argued that pumping even more cash into the Pentagon is a recipe for fiscal ruin. With proposals floating around to jack up spending by a whopping 50 percent—adding another $50 billion overnight—Paul sees this as a direct path to deeper national debt.
“So our military budget is not inadequate, it is enormous,” he continued. “But to increase it by 50% in one fell swoop to add another $50 billion, this is the debate that we will have.”
For everyday Americans struggling with bills and inflation, Paul’s message hits close to home. He stressed that these wars aren’t just abstract policy debates—they come with a hefty price tag in both blood and treasure.
“Wars not free,” Paul declared. “It’s not free in terms of lives, but it’s also not free in terms of dollars. We are swimming in a sea of debt.”
Shifting gears, the senator dismissed fears of invading armies storming U.S. shores. Instead, he zeroed in on the real enemy lurking within: the crushing weight of unchecked borrowing fueled by defense contractors and their lobbyist pals.
“We’re not in danger of foreign soldiers coming to the United States,” Paul said. “We are in danger of the debt that the military industrial complex is incurring on us. We are in danger that that debt will drag us down.”
But the real electoral bombshell, according to Paul, isn’t internal GOP squabbles—it’s the skyrocketing costs at the pump that could torpedo Republican chances come November.
“I don’t think a split party is the problem,” he explained. “I think high oil prices will be the problem.”
With the 2026 elections already looking dicey for Republicans, Paul painted a grim picture of what ongoing strikes against Iran could unleash. Voters are fed up with policies that jack up energy costs and line the pockets of global elites.
“I think the 2026 elections, already we are behind the eight ball as far as the electoral process,” Paul warned. “I think, if you add in high gas prices, high oil prices, and if we’re still bombing Iran with kinetic action — people don’t want to call it war, but if there’s still kinetic action that causes oil to be over $100, I think you’re going to see a disastrous election.”
