Trump doesn’t take lightly to being told what to do. And this might send him over the edge.
Because a foreign leader just made a shocking demand to Donald Trump.
Ukraine and Russia are in the midst of a heated war.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has constantly been requesting foreign aid from the United States.
And now, he wants more than just money, he wants a peace plan.
Earlier in the week, former President Donald Trump was asked in an interview with Meet the Press about his proposed deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump was specifically asked if Russia would be allowed to obtain land it had captured from Ukraine in his deal.
“No, no. I’d make a fair deal for everybody. Nope, I’d make it fair,” Donald Trump said.
“You know, that’s something that could have been negotiated. Because there were certain parts, Crimea and other parts of the country, that a lot of people expected could happen. You could have made a deal. So they could have made a deal where there’s lesser territory right now than Russia’s already taken, to be honest.”
Trump also mentioned that his deal would only take up to 24 hours to be made between Russia and Ukraine.
But now, Zelensky is wanting to know the full details of the plan, rather than waiting until Trump is potentially elected to a second term as president.
“[Trump] can publicly share his idea now, not waste time, not to lose people, and say, ‘My formula is to stop the war and stop all this tragedy and stop Russian aggression,'” the Ukrainian President said.
“And he said, how he sees it, how to push Russia from our land. Otherwise, he’s not presenting the global idea of peace.”
Zelensky is adamant that in order for the peace deal to work, Russia can’t keep land it stole from Ukraine.
“So [if] the idea is how to take the part of our territory and to give Putin, that is not the peace formula,” Zelensky said.
It seems like President Zelensky is still not sold on the idea that Trump’s deal would be fair for Ukraine.
Not only that, but he’s clearly losing his patience with the former U.S. President over not releasing the supposed peace plan.
But perhaps, Zelensky should realize that the United States’ sole purpose isn’t to constantly shell out billions of dollars worth of aid as well as consulting on war-related deals and policies.
Until then, Volodymyr Zelensky will continue soliciting the U.S. for support until President Joe Biden decides enough is enough.
As for now, that doesn’t look to happen any time soon.
