Politicians in the U.S. are supposed to pledge their allegiance to America. But these Leftists don’t align with that thinking.

And a secret trip to this communist nation has these Democrats in hot water.

According to the Miami Herald, Democrat Reps. Pramila Jayapal (WA) and Illhan Omar (MN) went on a secret trip to the communist country of Cuba over a week ago.

The two lawmakers led a group of about 12 people into Cuba. Among them was a staff member from Rep. Barbara Lee’s (D-CA) office.

Jayapal is the current chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and Omar is the deputy chairwoman.

“Representatives Jayapal and Omar traveled to Cuba last week, where they met with people from across Cuban civil society and government officials to discuss human rights and the U.S.-Cuba bilateral relationship,” a Congressional Progressive Caucus spokesperson said to the Miami Herald.

Both Omar and Jayapal are against the U.S. embargo that Cuba has been under for over 60 years.

They and 40 other Democrat Reps. also voted against a resolution in 2021 that supported the peaceful protest of Cuba’s communist regime.

The plans for the trip were not revealed before it took place, which angered Republican politicians.

“All members of the media should refer to the Progressive Caucus by their more accurate name – the Congressional Communist Sympathizing Caucus,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) said on X.

“It’s outrageous that Members of Congress would visit a country that jails, abuses, and murders their citizens and supports Iran, Russia, and Communist China against our interests.”

“Perhaps their time would be better spent listening to the Cubans crossing our southern border & risking their lives on makeshift rafts to find out why they’re fleeing Communism.”

“The murderous dictatorship in Cuba must be defeated – not appeased,” said Rep. Carlos Gimenez’s (R-FL) X post.

Gimenez is a Cuban exile and was none too pleased about the Leftists’ trip to the island.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) who’s parents are Cuban immigrants, also bashed the trip.

“Pro-Hamas members of Marxist congressional squad just returned from a secret visit with anti-American dictatorship in #Cuba,” he said in an X post of his own.

Is anyone actually surprised that members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus would try and appease a communist government?
