Soros has been a useful weapon for the Left. But that may be changing.

As Democrats are panicking after what George Soros just did to their party.

Soros Family PAC Scales Back Spending in 2024, Shifts Focus Under New Leadership

Democracy PAC, the leading political arm of the Soros family, significantly reduced its spending during the 2024 election cycle, cutting expenditures by over $14 million compared to the previous cycle. Campaign finance filings reveal that between January 1, 2023, and Election Day 2024, the PAC spent approximately $67.5 million, funneling funds to committees aimed at electing Democrats to Congress and the White House.

This marks a sharp drop from the $81.5 million the PAC spent during the 2020 election cycle on a broader range of Leftist organizations.

One notable change during this period was a shift in leadership. In 2023, The Wall Street Journal reported that Alex Soros, George Soro’s son, had assumed control of the PAC. Although $125 million had been allocated to the PAC, it remains unclear how Alex Soros plans to utilize the substantial remaining funds.

Alex Soros’s approach to political spending reflects a change from his father’s strategies in several ways. For example, he placed less emphasis on criminal justice reform, a cause his father championed.

During the 2020 election cycle, when George Soros led Democracy PAC, it contributed more than $4 million to various “Justice and Public Safety PACs” supporting progressive prosecutors. Under Alex Soros’s leadership in 2024, funding for such PACs plummeted to just $131,000.

Further illustrating the shift, Alex Soros redirected $60 million from the Fund for Policy Reform, a nonprofit tied to criminal justice reform within the Open Society Foundations network, into Democracy PAC.

While this reallocation represents a decline in criminal justice funding from Democracy PAC, it does not signify a full retreat from the issue, as the Soros philanthropic network continues to provide grants in the area.

Despite these changes, election results were mixed for Soros-backed prosecutors. Of the 25 prosecutors associated with Soros-linked funding who ran for election in 2024, 12 lost their races, according to reports from Fox News Digital.

Under Alex Soros’s leadership, Democracy PAC prioritized funding organizations focused on race. Black PAC emerged as the largest beneficiary during the 2024 election cycle, receiving $15 million. Black PAC describes its mission as fighting racism, protecting voting rights, and addressing issues like environmental racism and climate change.

The organization invested heavily in advertisements supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and at-risk Senate Democrats. One ad suggested that President-elect Donald Trump would have backed violence to suppress civil rights protests. Notably, Trump secured more Black voter support than any Republican in nearly five decades, according to CNN analyst Harry Enten.

Other racially focused groups funded by Democracy PAC included Black Voters Matter Action PAC, Black Men Vote, Color of Change PAC, AAPI Victory Fund, and Somos PAC, all receiving millions. Alex Soros also allocated $1 million to the One for All Committee, which targeted “moderate white women” in battleground states to sway them toward Democratic candidates.

This emphasis on racially targeted PACs is not entirely new for the Soros family.

In 2020, under George Soros’s leadership, Democracy PAC also supported Black PAC, giving it over $2.5 million, alongside significant contributions to other groups such as Color of Change PAC and Black Voters Matter Action PAC. Both father and son share a commitment to funding abortion-related organizations, with Planned Parenthood Votes receiving substantial support.

While Democracy PAC’s overall spending declined under Alex Soros, mainstream Democratic committees saw a boost. Senate Majority PAC, Future Forward PAC, and House Majority PAC collectively received $24.5 million from Soros in 2024, a notable increase from the $17.5 million they received in 2020.

According to Alex Soros, he is “more political” than his father, a characterization underscored by his deeper integration into the Democratic Party’s establishment. In 2024, he became engaged to Democratic operative Huma Abedin and made numerous visits to the White House under President Joe Biden. He also met with Democratic candidates throughout the election cycle while donating millions to their campaigns, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The younger Soros’s leadership has brought a distinct focus to Democracy PAC, signaling a new direction for the Soros family’s political legacy. Whether these shifts will yield long-term impacts remains to be seen.
