And Democrats are running for the hills after this House investigation was announced.
Last month, $60.84 billion of aid to Ukraine was passed in the U.S. House.
Democrats of course were giddy at the news and in response, waved Ukrainian flags in the House chamber. 28 congressional Democrats waved the flags to be exact.
And now those 28 legislators may be receiving an ethics investigation for their actions.
The Heritage Oversight Project sent a letter to the House Ethics Committee this week to ask for an investigation into the Democrats who waved the Ukrainian flags last month.
The letter, which was first received by the Washington Examiner, wants the committee to “hold the wrongdoers accountable.” The letter also argues that congressional decorum rules were violated by the 28 Leftists.
“The only flags that belong on the floor of the U.S. House are American flags. It shouldn’t take an ethics complaint from the Oversight Project to instigate consequences for this flagrant violation of the rules,” Heritage Oversight Project executive director Mike Howell said to the Washington Examiner.
According to House rules, congress members “shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.” They’re also not allowed to make “statements that impugn the reputation of the House.”
The Heritage Oversight Project argues that the Democrats broke these rules by waving a foreign country’s flag.
“This conduct of waving the flag impugns the reputation of the House because foreign flags dilute the primacy and importance of deep American traditions, American lives sacrificed, and the land that the American flag represents,” the letter adds.
“Not only do these flagrant displays of foreign capitulation disrespect our American heritage and the American way of life, but it also directly insults the American people.”
The Heritage Oversight Project isn’t the only group trying to condemn the Left for their behavior. House Republicans are also looking to pass new legislation that will ban the foreign flags from being displayed on the House floor.
Rep. Kat Cammack (FL) is a Republican who introduced such a ban. “Watching American representatives pass out & wave Ukrainian flags in the United States House of Representatives chamber infuriated me,” Cammack said on social media.
“If there is one room in our country that should only have the American flag present, it is this room.”
Reps. Seth Magaziner (D-RI), Diana DeGette (D-CO), and Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ) were identified as the Democrats who “helped pass out the flags,” according to the Heritage Oversight Project’s letter.
Democrats are always participating in actions that put America last.
Putting America first doesn’t register with them as something that’s important.
The Left would rather find ways to prop other countries up while completely disregarding the United States.
And now they may be paying the price for that through a tumultuous ethics investigation.
