The former president and the GOP are desperate to defeat Joe Biden this fall. But their chances to do that just took a massive hit.

And Donald Trump and the Republican Party are fearing for the worst after this new election poll drops.

The 2024 presidential election is shaping up to be a massive political contest between likely Republican nominee Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

However, there are other candidates in the running who are hoping to have a positive showing this November.

Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is currently the highest-polling third-party candidate in the 2024 race.

His moderate stance on many Leftist issues, as well as his anti-vaccine sentiments, are helping to draw in more centrist-leaning voters from both sides of the political aisle.

Democrats and the Biden campaign were fearful that Kennedy’s presence in the race would only hurt their chances of defeating Trump.

But now a new poll has emerged that shows the opposite and that has the Trump camp in a state of fear.

According to an NBC News poll, if the election were between just Trump and Biden, the former president would win 46% to 44%.

But once Kennedy is included in the running, Biden would defeat Trump 39% to 37%.

Kennedy himself would sit at 13% while other independent candidates, Jill Stein and Cornel West would sit at 3% and 2% respectively.

The White House and the Left were always worried that Kennedy’s campaign would play spoiler to President Joe Biden.

That’s led to plenty of Democrats pleading with Kennedy (who at first ran for president as a Democrat) to drop out of the race so he doesn’t help hand the presidency to Donald Trump.

Even members of Kennedy’s own family ditched him and instead endorsed Biden last week.

There is some positive news for Trump though.

According to new RealClearPolitics data, the former president still maintains a 1.3% lead over Biden nationally with Kennedy in the race.

So it looks like now Republicans can no longer view the independent candidate as just a spoiler for Joe Biden in November.

They have to start taking him as seriously as possible due to how well he is polling as a third-party candidate.

Donald Trump seems to have considered this already, as he’s referred to Robert F. Kennedy as the “most radical left candidate.”
