Kamala Harris strikes Trump with a low blow he never saw coming

Harris is out of politics for now. But that isn’t stopping her from going after the president.

And Kamala Harris strikes Trump with a low blow he never saw coming.

On Saturday night, former Vice President Kamala Harris stepped back into the public eye, delivering her first major speech since leaving the White House.

The occasion was the 56th annual NAACP Image Awards, where Harris accepted the Chairman’s Award and used the moment to deliver a pointed message—one that indirectly took aim at both President Trump and Elon Musk.

Harris painted a stark portrait of the nation’s current state, rallying the audience not to lose hope even as the Democrat Party grapples with internal divisions and Trump’s renewed grip on the Oval Office.

“While we have no illusions about what we are up against in this chapter in our American story, this chapter will be written not simply by whoever occupies the Oval Office nor by the wealthiest among us,” said Harris.

“The American story will be written by you. Written by us. By we the people,” she added.

Harris made history as the first Democratic presidential candidate in two decades to lose the popular vote—a distinction not held since John Kerry’s defeat 20 years ago to President George W. Bush.

She fell behind Trump by approximately 2.3 million votes and failed to secure a win in any swing state.

Since Donald Trump’s official return to the White House last month, Harris has maintained a relatively low profile. The political landscape looks vastly different from the last Trump administration. This time, Democrats appear disheartened, fragmented, and struggling to muster the same momentum as they face a wave of Trump’s executive orders, strategic appointments, and bold presidential directives.

In her speech, Harris sought to reignite a sense of purpose and resolve among her supporters.

“Some see the flames on our horizons, the rising waters in our cities, the shadows gathering over our democracy and ask, ‘What do we do now?’” she said.

“But we know exactly what to do, because we have done it before. And we will do it again. We use our power. We organize. We mobilize. We educate. We advocate. Our power has never come from having an easy path,” Harris continued.

Her remarks came just hours after Trump energized his loyal base at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) near Washington, DC. There, he reveled in his victory over the former vice president.

“I haven’t said that name in a while, Kamala,” Trump quipped during a jab at her handling of the border crisis. “I bet nobody knows her last name.”

Though Harris never mentioned Trump or Musk by name, her message clearly alluded to both men. Speaking to the crowd gathered at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium near Los Angeles, she highlighted the NAACP’s enduring fight against injustice.

“This organization came into being at a moment when our country struggled with greed, bitterness and hatred,” Harris said. “Those who carried its legacy forward had no illusions about the forces they were up against.”

Meanwhile, Democratic leaders in Congress have largely refrained from reacting to Trump’s every move, instead attempting to keep their focus on middle-class issues. However, this approach has frustrated some Leftists who feel the party’s leadership isn’t pushing back forcefully enough against Trump’s agenda.

Following her election defeat, Harris pledged not to “go quietly into the night.” Yet, her public appearances have been sparse. Recently, Harris, along with former President Joe Biden, signed with the Creative Artists Agency, one of Hollywood’s most powerful talent agencies. The move signals that while Harris may have taken a step back from the political frontlines, she is far from exiting the national stage.

Her speech at the NAACP Image Awards made one thing clear: Kamala Harris is still bitter about her 2024 election defeat and she may be trying to muster up some strength to seek revenge. But only time will tell if she succeeds again in the world of politics or in her quest for revenge.
