One Democrat just flipped to GOP and the reason will shock you

The Left thought they had a stranglehold on their politicians. Cracks are starting to show.

And one Democrat just flipped to GOP and the reason will shock you.

The Democrat Party has been playing the race card for decades, but it really came to fruition during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots.

Back then, they framed it as if they were the only ones who could deliver black Americans from the clutches of white supremacist Republicans.

Even Joe Biden said, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump then you ain’t black.”

Well, that narrative was just shattered thanks to one Democrat lawmaker who saw through the facade and took the party to task.

A Democratic state representative in Georgia has flipped to the Republicans. Mesha Mainor left the party after being “crucified” for her ideas on community safety and school choice.

The Georgia GOP welcomed the District 56 lawmaker with broad arms, but her now-former colleagues chastised her for prioritizing constituent service before party loyalty.

“Today I stand here to say that I have decided to join the Republican Party of Georgia,” Mainor stated during a press conference on Tuesday, the Martin Luther King Jr Drive sign visible in the background.

Georgia Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon, who stood at her side, said her decision “reflects the reality about where there is a political home where diversity of opinion is welcomed.”

Mainor told Fox News that her decision was “moral,” not “political,” and that she was fed up with Democratic policies that failed to deliver for citizens.

“When I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me,” she lamented.

“They crucified me. When I decided to stand up in support of safe communities and refused to support efforts to defund the police, they didn’t back me. They abandoned me.”

“For far too long,” she continued, “the Democrat Party has gotten away with using and abusing the black community. For decades, the Democrat Party has received the support of more than 90 percent of the black community. And what do we have to show for it?”

She chastised Democrats for claiming to care about the poor while promoting policies that do little to aid them.

“It’s ironic,” she said. “I hear ‘Black Lives Matter.’ But do they? I see every other minority being prioritized except Black children living in poverty that can’t read.”

She added that, “the most dangerous thing to the Democrat Party is a black person with a mind of their own.”

Gov. Brian Kemp expressed his enthusiasm for working with Mainor on Twitter, and he shared a statement from the Georgia House Republicans that echoed his comments.

State Democrats were harsh, calling her decision a “stinging betrayal of her constituents” and vowed to replace her in the next election with someone who would toe the party line.
