The Republican Party is at a loss after this candidate suspends their campaign

U.S. Rep. Ken Buck

Republicans need all the help they can get in 2024. But they’re not gonna find it from this politician.

And the Republican Party is at a loss after this candidate suspends their campaign.

2024 will be here before we know it.

But this Republican doesn’t plan on being in the mix of things come election time.

U.S. Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) made an appearance on CNN’s “The Source” on Wednesday, where he explained his decision to not run for reelection in 2024 for Colorado’s 4th District.

“My next guest is Congressman Ken Buck who made his own news by announcing that he has had enough and is not running for reelection. Congressman, thank you for joining me tonight, tell me what is driving your decision here?” Anchor Kaitlan Collins asked.

“Well, really two things, Kaitlan. One, I have been here nine years and Congress refuses to deal with the big issues that we need to deal with. We have not addressed the sustainability of Social Security and Medicare,” Buck answered.

“We haven’t addressed the huge spending issue that we have. By the end of next year, we will have $36 trillion of debt and that also is just unsustainable.”

“Then in addition to that, Republicans who have answers to these issues and are at least aware of them and hopefully will work on them some day have a huge credibility problem because we continue to talk about and lie about the 2020 election as if it was stolen as if Joe Biden wasn’t the real winner of that election,” he added.

Buck then went on to harp on January 6 and the events that happened that day. He explained his frustration with Republicans treating the protestors from that day as “political prisoners” and not criminals.

“We keep lying about January 6 and the prisoners from January 6, the defendants who are not political prisoners but rather committed crimes. They assaulted police officers,” Buck continued.

“They damaged government property. So I don’t think we can have the credibility we need with the American public if we continue the lies that we’re now telling.”

Predictably, Buck was criticized for his reasoning to not run for reelection, specifically by his Republican primary opponent, Trent Leisy.

“BIGGEST NEWS EVER!!! My RINO primary opponent, Ken Buck, just DROPPED OUT OF THE RACE over President Trump’s ACCURATE rigged election claims,” Leisy posted on X.

“I’m running as an America First candidate that will MAKE COLORADO GREAT AGAIN!”

Rep. Buck’s decision to leave Congress will likely open up the door for Trent Leisy who is a Trump-aligned candidate.

And one less RINO out of Washington, D.C., is always a good thing.
