The federal government is full of bureaucrats. They know they’re in trouble when Donald Trump is sworn in as president.
And this U.S. government agency was caught making a stunning admission about Trump’s reelection.
In a surprising move, the federal agency charged with overseeing a military draft, should it ever be reinstituted, shared a profane tweet on Wednesday suggesting that the United States may be heading down a path similar to Nazi Germany.
“For all you stupid f—s out there that still believe military service will be voluntary. Remember Germany 1936,” read a post on X (formerly Twitter), which was reposted by the official account of the Selective Service System (SSS).
The original tweet came from an X user named “SloJoe,” who uses an image of the late General and Secretary of State Colin Powell as their profile picture.
This reference to 1936 Germany seems to allude to Adolf Hitler’s reintroduction of military conscription, which violated the Treaty of Versailles and preceded his occupation of the Rhineland.
In the closing weeks of the 2024 presidential race, several prominent Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, invoked historical comparisons between President-elect Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler.
These false and ridiculous parallels have fueled tensions around discussions of national military policies.
Despite being flagged by a CBS News reporter and other social media users, the reposted tweet remained visible on the SSS’s official account for over an hour.
“What’s going on with the @SSS_gov (Selective Service) X account?” inquired CBS reporter Jim LaPorta on X.
“Why is the official Selective Service account retweeting this???” echoed another confused user.
The Selective Service System, responsible for maintaining the national draft database and ensuring that nearly all men aged 18 to 25 are registered, declined to comment on the incident when requested by the New York Post.
In June, amid swirling speculation, Trump dismissed the idea of compulsory military service if he were to assume the presidency again.
Responding to a Washington Post report that suggested some of his former officials and Republican lawmakers were entertaining a mandatory service proposal to address recruitment shortfalls, Trump, 78, took to Truth Social, calling it a “ridiculous idea.”
“The Story is completely untrue. In fact, I never even thought of that idea,” he wrote.
As for the Selective Service’s X account, they posted a statement on the social media platform on Thursday morning saying that they will be investigating the incident to figure out why the inappropriate tweet was reposted.
“The reposted content was removed when we became aware of it. The content of the repost in no way reflects the views of the Selective Service System,” their post said in part.
Yesterday an inappropriate X post related to a mandatory draft was reposted on the Selective Service Agency’s X account. We are investigating this incident to determine how this happened and are proactively taking steps to prevent this from happening in the future. The reposted…

If anything, the Selective Service’s investigation will likely find that the perpetrator of the repost is simply a corrupt employee who should no longer have a job within the federal government.
